He did no such thing. As he was being subbed he took it off to give it to NRC however NRC was also going off so he flicked it towards Ash and it fell short. Having said that passing the band was a bit like his play I agree!

i think sometimes a players reaction to coming off can be misinterpreted, i would be more concerned if he just walked off shook every ones hand and smiled.
Houllier said: "Myself and John spoke before the Manchester City game. He didn't feel up to playing. He had missed training for various reasons and needed to work on his fitness which he is doing now."I will be delighted to have him in the squad and to play. Am I happy with his attitude? John is grown-up. If he feels he is not fit enough for the game, I take that on board."We know John. He can be outstanding. He is a very likeable person. There is no fall-out between John and myself. I am sure he has been working on his fitness and doing well. I don't think he will be involved in the FA Cup game but at some stage after that. I trust him to be back as soon as he is ready. We need him anyway."
Excellent an olive branch for Carew nowGet him out there, get the crosses in and the goals will come

Having said that passing the band was a bit like his play I agree!I saw it deifferently - Petrov looked agrieved to be subbed and appeared to throw the armband on the floor in front of Ash - he then preceeded to storm off towards the bench - he tugged at his shirt as he was doing so - he then appeared to ignore to shake someones hand - he looked well pissed and to me that is also demonstrated by others in the team. Hou does appear to have failed to impress a good deal of the squad .
