I've not seen any statement come out of VP saying they're backing him. Sky say they've had one, but they've not said off whom, unless anyone can point me in the right direction, via a link.
SSN reprted that GH said he had met with Faulkner this morning and told his job was safe

The way i read it or heard it, GH said he met PF after the game and said they were still behind him. Since then though, i'm sure the board have become aware of the backlash from last night on forums like this. Personally i think it's only a matter of time, which by then will be too late.

Look at the bright side, after transfer windows our new manager will have a better team to work with than GH when he arrived. If we got rid of deadwood, add decent foreign talents and more experience from our young guns.

I hope Randy Lerner got a plan with reduced income.

I would just keep GH to work behind the scene and get Jol in to coach the team.  He could keep improving our scouting network, facilities and develop the academy even further.

At the end of the day the buck stops with the players. If Wolves can keep a clean sheet against Chelski and we make 3 mistakes and concede 3 then they must have better players than us or their players were trying harder than ours?

I know the GH doesn't always get the tactics right but if the players didn't make 3 vital errors we probably would of won. Same for yesterday if we took our chances most likely the same.

Yes he should of made subs earlier and switched Young/Gabby after h/t

Of course we'll win  few games coming up the key thing is 'will we win enough teams around us keep winning too?

I don't agree with sacking Houllier, we are not where we are because of him,  but because of; the O'Neill's departure, its manner and timing, Houllier arriving too late to bring anyone in and the injuries.  None of that is anything to do with Houllier, in my view.  We would have been here whoever had been appointed.

That said, the suggestion of Salsa above is the best suggestion I have heard to date.  So long as Jol with Houllier could work together of course.

One thing that I noticed from the interview GH did after the match last night when asked about his position was the smile he had on his face when he said that the owner backed him and that is all that matters - almost as if he was saying the fans can go forth as they have no say in the matter.

Hope his arrogance show he is determined to put things right rather than openly saying fuck you to the fans.

I'm not so sure that Randy doesn't deserve some of the criticism of the mess were in.
He really needs to pull his chequebook out this month or we are screwed. Even small Heath are signing bentley and prob keane and as much as these would not be our 'ideal' player type but hate to say this but were in a relegation battle! And that certainly is not where we want to be, meanwhile players like keane and bentley would help create and score more than we do now!

I agree.  Dunne again was at fault for the Chelsea equaliser, although he appeared committed and again for the challenge on Welbeck that resulted in the free kick and subsequent goal.

Houllier has spotted Dunne is unreliable and Dunne knows it.  Dunne or his agent has been clever enough to get the media on Houllier's case and a lot of people on this site, let alone off it are falling for it.

What would be the attraction for someone like Jol or anyone else to come in and work with a failed manager, or give up any part of their sphere of influence to be damned by association with him?

Had we appointed GH as a DOF or some type of Admin role first up (on a far lower salary obv) and set the terms for any new manager or coach coming in then fair enough.

But to do it after the event, to keep him on just because we want to shy away from sacking him would just make a bad situation even worse.

I noticed that too. That smug smile really grates, especially afer another defeat. It smacks of: I have my pension and who cares. Gotcha.

Interesting article from Neil Moxley at the Mail:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1344710/The-Midlander-Much-Houllier-soap-opera-Villa-really-slide-trapdoor.html

The peasants down the road can't even source original material.

'Return to your St Andrew's base, agent Houllier, your job is almost done?'  Oh how those Agent Ridgewell jibes must have hurt.

I can't disagree with that article.  The damage has been done and can't see how he can patch things up now.  He's lost the playing staff, the fans and the media, and he is not the kind of gaffer you want for a relegation battle.

I'm so glad that Randy and the board are running our club rather than the majority of lynch-mob minded, Radio WM presenter soundalikes (you know, the ones who thought it was a "blessing" when the club captain suffered an injury earlier in the season) that have been posting here.

For a proportion (I believe a minority) of the crowd to respond to conceding a goal that was due mainly to us being reduced to playing 10 against 11 (when it clearly should have been 10 v 10) with chants of "you're getting sacked in the morning" was truly incredible. Had that shot hit the post, had Heskey's chance that hit the bar gone in etc. etc. then many of the same sheep-like idiots would have been going home smiling.

We frequently bemoan the lack of success football-wise in this area - I think we get what a minority of the support (those who form their opinions from "Franksey", "Rego" and other assorted Radio WM know-nothings) deserve and, indeed, help to come to pass.

I also considered the future of the season ticket I've had in the same seat in the Lower Holte since the stand was built (my support goes back to 1964 not just 1990!). However, the reason was that I couldn't bear the thought of being on the same side as these "unsupporters" who do not know how to back their team when they need it. Then I realised that most people around me shared my opinion - and probably don't post on here!

No doubt I'll get a warning from a moderator for slanging you all, especially as this only my 5th post!!!

im off the bookies to put some money on us going down.. that will ease the blow a little......

I did that on the 6th November. Laid down a tenner at 33/1.

Don't want it to happen but am fearing the worse.

Didn't like numbskull when he was at Liverpool.

Didn't want numbskull when he joined Villa.

And I certainly don't want the numbskull here now.
