Sack Houllier, and then what?

A top manager would certainly be suspicious of joining a club who treats a well-respected (in the game) manager so shabbily.

What utter, utter nonsense.

Did Spurs struggle to appoint a top manager after they sacked Ramos?  Have Man City had any such problems?  Chelsea?  Bolton?  Top managers want three things.  A decent club to work at, money to spend and a chance to enhance their reputation.  If you think they give a stuff about who came before them you're sorely mistaken.

Ok, so you know more about the inner workings of the mind of a top manager than I do. Still, I find myself wondering whether it will be easier to appoint the "right" man now than it was in the summer. And funnily, I also believe that some managers would hesitate to join a club making its third managerial appointment for the season in January.

Wouldn't it just be football if like when Howard Kendall was close to the sack we went on a flukey run and won the fa cup just like everton did when they all clamoured for kendalls head a d were bottom!

I'd love it if houllier could win us the fa cup but I won't hold my breath on it!

It's madness that this is even a discussion after 'he' has picked up 14 points from 42!!!
He is going down as worst manager in our history.
Unless we pull out some major coups in this window then I am certain we will go down.
Plus think that come feb we will be 6points adrift from safety!!

Can someone explain to me why; last night before Heskey was sent off the Holte End was singing 'Gerald Houlliers claret and blue army, 10 minutes later after Heskey had been sent off and Sunderland scored with a 25 yard shot through a crowd of players, they were singing, 'Your'e going to get sacked in the morning'?

The Villa Fans who braved the cold to go watch the least motivated manager we have ever had are what we call "hardcore" and would cheer for adolf hitler if he was in the managers seat... When they finally realised the man is a french baffoon, they then said he should get sacked...... it was either that or they were cold and bored.

If he's staying, give him the money, make the deals we are looking at happen as soon as we possibly can.

If he's staying and we're not going to bring significant talent in, then I'm afraid we're done for.

No it's ok!  Cos we have signed Kyle Walker!  Disgraceful.

Why is Walker that bad?

Not seen him play in a Villa shirt so I wondered where your knowledge of him comes from ?

My point is that our predicament requires more than Spurs' reserve team players coming in.  Where are the marquee signings?  The big names?  Ther ones that everyone expected as being different to those that MON would have signed?  I'm sorry but no matter what you may think about this lad he is not going to lift the club/fans one bit.

It's January 6th for Christ's sake.

Yes it is and we have just lost yet another game.  On January 5th I might add.  Your point being?  If GH has not already realised that we are in the shit and identified the players to get us out of it then we are screwed.  If he has then why were they not lined up for Jan 1,2,3 etc?   I remember him saying last month that we won't buy anyone til after Sheff Utd.  WHY?  So we can lose another game in the mean time?  Well it worked.

Given that GH has seemingly proved his inability to get on with or motivate players, it doesn't matter who he signs. It will all end in tears and once 1st Feb comes and he's still there - we are down!

We might as well get used to the idea. With crowds of around 20,000 - we should be able to get out of the car park within 30 mins and think of the money some of us will safe not going to away matches.

I can not help but feel this has now given the board the perfect excuse not to spend any serious money in January.  If results don't improve they will have absolutely no choice but to sack him in February as a final gamble to avoid relegation.  They are hardly now going to let GH spend serious money on players a new manager may not want.

It is easy to say this now but taking Ireland, a player who clearly didn't want to play for us, before we appointed a manager was madness.  It seems as though they just wanted to push the deal through to get the money in, which, if true, is very peturbing.

Identifying players and bringing them in are two different things. I'm sure you're intelligent to realise this is not Football Manager 2011. Tuesday 4th January was the first day we could register a player this window, it's now two days later and we have one player in so far.

Whilst we have been performing terribly and I don't think Houllier is anywhere good enough, complaining about his lack of transfer business after two days is a bit childish.

Now I've calmed down, give him till the end of the month and let him get a few of his own players in.

If things haven't picked up then put KMac in charge, the players like him and he knows the methods the players like. There are six winnable games left. Six wins and a couple of draws should keep us up.

Houllier won't make much difference during the SHA game, the players will be up for it like they were Chelsea.

I sit in the Holte lower and I heard the shout of your getting sacked in the morning but never heard a call of Gerard Houlliers Claret and Blue Army at any point last night.  Unless it was a small pocket doing it for ironic reasons

I've not seen any statement come out of VP saying they're backing him. Sky say they've had one, but they've not said off whom, unless anyone can point me in the right direction, via a link.
