It's as if Ashley's on a mission to destroy the club. More Geordie blubbing to look forward to.

I was told that Newcastle wanted Jol on a performance related contract which is why he did not join them. If thats the case then Pardew could be paying Newcastle to manage them :-)

This view from Geordie-land has made me smile. Muddled thinking on Tyneside.

I really thought that this was all being set up for MON. When he left us I thought that he had something in the pipeline with Barcodes and Lplop being the obvious candidates. The Barcodes were perfect for him and he could have done what he does best - improve a mediocre team to 6th and then leave a big mess behind. As soon as I heard that Hughton had been sacked I was convinced MON would be unveiled by the weekend, but Pardew? Apart from Ashley and Pardew, I can't imagine anybody thinking that this appointment would have been sensible.

Utter madness and self destructive.

We're in a bit of 2 and 8 at the minute but what's happening up there is beyond ridiculous.
I am now convinced Mike Ashley is a Mackem.

I wouldn't be tempted to take that price on him seeing out the season.

Sky Bet make Alan Pardew 7/4 not to be in charge of Newcastle for the final game of the season following his controversial appointment as the club's new boss.

Five and a half years? Fuck a duck!

Hughton is the only manager to have given them any dignity at all in God knows how long and they bomb him out for no reason to be replaced by Pardew on that deal?

Ha, ha, ha.

I really believe that Ashley feels his club and his other business hasn't been in the spotlight enough. Why else would you engage in this utter madness after what has been a relatively settled period for the club?

What I don't get, apart from sacking a decent manager and appointing a crap one, is the length of the contract, especially as Newcastle are looking for new owners. Maybe Ashley has no intention of selling them and has decided it's much safer to keep away potential bidders if Newcastle are back in the Championship.

Whatever. I'm delighted.
