The round crest isn't just a symbol of nostalgia, it's a design classic. I don't think we've had a better badge.

Me neither, but as I get older I like the early seventies lion with no shield.

That's the one for me, it looked particularly good on the yellow and blue away kit. The round badge didn't work at all on that, although i'd be happy if we went back to either, the subsequent 2 badges just don't cut it .

The worst was the late nineties revamp that made the lion look like a seahorse (I think Messrs and Ansell tried to get it changed ASAP).

God yeah, I'd forgotten that brief monstrosity. Didn't object to the general change in design in the early 90s. It was when I was younger and that badge carries a lot of special memories. It's still the one on my keyring to this day.

Also, in 86/87 wasn't there no badge at all on the shirt, just the letters AVFC?

That season, and the season before, the badge was on the shorts only.

I think the classic round badge just works, even if it isn't a favourite for everybody. It's claret and blue, it has a lion rampant, and it has our full name. The 'Prepared' bit isn't really appropriate, because we rarely are.

That's a good point, actually. Let's just hope Remi has a plan for the transfer window prepared and has the backing of the custodian and his cronies.

I'm going with the 70's lion also.
Everything about it is classy

I do like the revamp we wore from 1992 to about 1998. After that as people say it looked like am sea horse. The circular 70s and 80s was class too.

The 1957 crest was pretty good. I liked the 'free lion' of the 1970 shirts design.

The current one could be fixed up easy enough, if they just made the blue darker, made the lion proper gold instead of fucking yellow and changed the 'prepared' font to something a bit better.

I like the design of the current badge, just the colours look washed out when contrasted with each other. I've got it as a car sticker and it just looks whatever the opposite adjective to bold is.

I think the club has bigger issues to worry about than the crest.

However, if and when we get taken over I would hope they change it.  As soon as he goes, I want every last trave of Lerner's regime removed.

Can we keep the mosaics and the Holte pub?

did you ask the same when Ellis oversaw our transformation from European champions to relegation deadbeats in the space of 5 years? Because if not to keep it consistent and equally melodramatic we should tear down the Holte End, the Doug Ellis, the Trinity, Bodymoor...

Probably not as Ellis for all his faults didn't spend nearly 6 years humiliating us by smashing practically every shit record the club had ever set. I'm not surprised some fans want to see every trace of him removed from the club. I know i do.
