I quite like the current crest but there's too much blue on it. We should have a crest which is predominantly claret - a bit like the circular one of the 80s...

I totally agree with this however I am alarmed at finding that Darren did not use capital I's and a space fail!

I'm not massively keen on our badge either but I don't see what is so special about the Man City one. I also don't there is a chance in hell the current one is changing while Randy is in charge.

It's subjective of course, but IMO Man City's is a sophisticated piece of graphic design. Working with the material they have (i.e. a historic crest, a palette of colours etc.) I think the designers have done a good job. Our's is in comparison, as suggested earlier in the thread, the work of a child.

The circular badge is THE definitive Aston Villa crest, forever and immovably associated with the clubs golden age, I don't have a Villa tattoo but this is the one I keep meaning to get - straight over the heart.

It is also the badge on the kit worn by those champions of 86/87.
Screw 86/87 - remember Highbury and Rotterdam.

I don't really care what it looks like as long as it says Aston Villa on it features a lion and has prepared written somewhere abouts

I am totally biased here becoming a supporter in the 70's - the circular crest/badge is Aston Villa.

It's the yellow lion on the light blue background that's the worst part for me. It's never sat right with me and looks like something a 15 year old designed on his bedroom PC.
It's the poorest thing Lerner has done since taking over, in my opinion.

Oh, for those carefree days of youthful optimism...

To think I used to like him...

Wouldn't be against the 70s/80s crest coming back but I'd like it to be redone, a bit modernised.

I also wouldn't mind an embroidered gold lion similar to Spurs and their cockerel, or Liverpool's liverbird. It looks far better than any shield design.

Yes, but not actually on the shirt, which is why the football gods relegated us.

And has been for less than twenty years of our history.

The round crest isn't just a symbol of nostalgia, it's a design classic. I don't think we've had a better badge.

Gold lion rampant please.

Smartest bit about last year's home shirt tbh.

Me neither, but as I get older I like the early seventies lion with no shield.

That's the one for me, it looked particularly good on the yellow and blue away kit. The round badge didn't work at all on that, although i'd be happy if we went back to either, the subsequent 2 badges just don't cut it .

The worst was the late nineties revamp that made the lion look like a seahorse (I think Messrs and Ansell tried to get it changed ASAP).
