Spurs have just been a better run club since the Premiership began too.

There are a lot of reasons to dislike Spurs but mostly it is about envy at them doing the right thing and them getting more love than they seem to deserve. It goes back a long way.Spurs seem to do so many things right in terms of management, which Villa have tended to get wrong, especially in the post WW2 era when Villa excelled at screwing things up, in the early years of a football boom.Villa were a mediocre selling club in 1951 when Spurs won their first league title - Villa sold Trevor Ford for the then record sum of £30k.So as Villa started their decline, which was only temporarily interrupted by their giant-killing at Wembley, Spurs began their ascent. Spurs went in the opposite direction and it proved a turning point for the two clubs' fortunes and status.Villa even sold them the captain who eventually helped them win the double in 1961, in Danny Blanchflower (another record £30k sell-off). As Villa were pissing away their heritage in the 1960s (Villa sold Hateley for £100k), Spurs were on the rise and became a prestige brand.Even as Villa were winning their European trophy Spurs equalled Villa's record number of FA cup wins and eventually surpassed them ten years later. There were plenty of reasons to resent the upstarts.Just as Villa were slow to introduce floodlights in the 1950s, they were slow to implement the marketing and business innovations which Spurs led the way with. This gave them the financial edge which enable Spurs to create a gap which Villa have since failed to bridge.Spurs have just been a better run club since the Premiership began too.Spurs bought players and sold them at huge profits (Berbatov and Modric et al) than Villa have managed - the two players mentioned both went for more than £30m. They will do it again with Bale. But the big difference is that Spurs have reinvested the money in the team and Villa have not.So the same pattern has repeated itself: Villa threw away their heritage and every advantage they have ever had and are doing it again and allowed a club with hardly any top flight history before WW2 to surpass them.So no Villa fan needs to think too hard as to why they hate Spurs. They just remind us of every useless **** who has fucked up our club.
Even as Villa were winning their European trophy Spurs equalled Villa's record number of FA cup wins and eventually surpassed them ten years later.

You make it sound like we won the Anglo-Italian not the European Cup. I prefer having that and winning the league in colour in the trophy room along with our 7 FA Cups rather than 8 FA Cups.

I raise you Spurs floodlights.Game. Set. Match.
You don't half talk some shite. Winning the European Cup is no better than the FA Cup? Sure. They're better than us now. Five years ago they weren't. In five years time they won't be again.
Every time I meet somebody from London who's a bit simple, I assume he's a Spurs fan
