General

It is a poor day when we have to resort to selling tickets for the Chelsea game at £15 each. That match is just over a month away. It would appear that the club have no confidence in things getting better in that period to have to resort to cheap seats for a match in the highest category of ticket pricing.

Would you rather pay £40?

As it happens, my seats have already been paid for so I have no say in the matter.

I was pointing out what a poor state we are in when we have to resort to cheap seats a month in advance of a match against one of the top clubs in the league.

If this continues then there will be fewer and fewer season ticket holders if they can pick up tickets on a match by match basis at such a price. Ticket prices like this used to apply for games like Wigan and Bolton; not Chelsea.

Me & my mate were season tickets for years, There was always offer's bring your mate for a tenner etc. I used to get pissed off about it, as you say your ticket is paid for, I gave up my season ticket 2 years ago now and I can count on one hand the amount of times I have been able to take advantage of the same offer.

Isn't this for the north stand only?

Spot on and I fall into this category as I'm sure plenty of others do.

I must have got something wrong though as last week I paid £35.00 for my Bolton ticket and today received a post card from the club offering me a ticket for £10.00!!

Sell your £35 ticket then and keep the £10 one.
How hard is that? ;)

General please could we have a chief executive who has a knowledge of football business- Steve stride, peter kenyon, rick parry or someone of that ilk as I am extemely concerned how things seem to be going downhill under Faulkner.

I appreciate as randy's friend you are going to back him on everything but he really needs to get a grip of this club rather than be in the states for the start of his beloved browns season.

is it really possible to run 2 clubs in 2 continents successfully- fans of the browns seem to have been critical of mr Lerner a lot and his record as owner there hardly inspires great belief that he can get villa where we want to be.

im not surprised that the tickets are that price...

who the hell wants to come and watch our managerless club get battered by chelsea, as the useless fat waste of space heskey ambles around the pitch like a dodo, flicking the ball onto their defenders, and the statue like petrov (captain? my arse) gets bypassed for the 15th time in 3 mins...

i am dreading the game, as i am most villa matches this season...

God help us on Saturday with kmac in charge- kevin davies
ust be licking his lips in anticipation and It is a sad state of affairs when we have a man in charge who has been turned down for the job only days earlier- he cannot be blamed as it's not his fault but why the he'll go public about wanting him to apply and then when he doesn't get the job everyone knows he was turned down.

I am fully behind gerard houllier but by god we need him now- can we not buy out his remaining few weeks of his contract rather than dally about ?

Hardly good man management fron randy - surely after 4 games he could see kmac wasn't up to it and should have had a quiet word before kmac went public about wanting the job- the entire management process has been farcical and I would be appalled if a lower league club acted in this way let alone Aston villa- people used to respect us, now they laugh at us.

Dear General

Being out of Europe, surely the Carling Cup must now have a higher priority? I ask because I will be disappointed to see the reserves play against Blackburn next week.

General

For someone who walked out in such a strop as O'Neill seemed to do, he has remained very tight lipped on the whole affair. Can you shed any light on why he may have chosen to do so as presumably he would have had no compensation and, therefore, no secrecy clause.

In  fairness, the questions for the General were flying in thick and fast at the time.

But it wasn't answered at all

General,

What is going to happen regarding the position of chief-scout? Will it become an in-club appointment or will it remain the preserve of the manager? Would it not be better to have a man at the club whose sole job it is to be employed by Aston Villa, and be answerable to Aston Villa. Maybe he can then also employ scouts out of his own budget. Obviously, if a manager wants to look at a player he does that anyway, but he could also ask the scouts to look at certain players as all managers have different ideas on players. but, what we can't keep repeating - and I don't know if this does happen - is when a managergoes and takes these people with him leaving a huge hole behind.

So, will we look to appoint a scout, or will we let Houllier do it? If we are doing it, who are the contenders?

I see that having been encouraged to apply for the job, not get it, then be asked to fill in for an indeterminate amount of time until the new boss starts, Kevin MacDonald is assessing his future with the club.  Can we afford to lose yet another vital part of the coaching infrastructure?

If as expected Mr H, is at the game on Saturday then surely he could be the Manager for the match against Bolton (i.e team talk, make substitutions etc....), or are there contractual reasons that he is unable to do this? or is this too much trouble for him to do?

I seem to remember that the day after MON took charge that he was straight on the touchline to manage us in a friendly in Germany

He wasn't on the touchline, he was in the Directors box with Doug.
