In my experience when someone is successful in an interview and is offered the role it is customary for the employer to ask when he or she can start work.
Mr Houlliers comments during his press conference seem to indicate that neither he or the club know just when that is likely to be.
Personally I am at a loss as to what is going on, in particular handing the managerial role role back to an unsuccessful candidate.
The press have indicated that Mr Houllier is to be paid a substantial salary - could the club not therefore offer the FFF a compensation payment to ensure his immediate release.
I fully appreciate that the previous incumbant dropped us in the **** however the manner in which his replacement has been appointed appears a little awry.
I do not think I am alone in wanting an answer to the question - "When will Mr Houllier take up his position?"
Like many others I purchased a season ticket with great expectations for the new season -again I realise that the departure of the previous manager was sudden, however the 3 defeats so far this season indicates that the playing staff are perhaps treading water and if we are not careful the season will be written off before it has started. This together with the issue regarding replica kits is starting to make the club look very small time . I make no apologies for appearing negative ... like many others I have committed to a season ticket during testing economic times and I am concerned with the way the club seems to be "drifting" away from the bright future we all crave.

The Board will say that they have done everything to solve the issues from Manager to Shirts but in all honesty General can you expect the supporters to believe that when you look at our current situation? Would any club at this level carry on in the way that we currently are?
We are a laughing stock atm and look like a club with no direction. Tony Pulis take a bow tonight, that is about leadership!

GK, you usually alleviate many of our fears and keep us on the positive side of reassurance on here

Gerard was a successful applicant/interviewee for the post....what is the latest update on his starting date please ?

If i was told i was unsuccessful like Kev Mac but then asked to carry on in a superior role for one i am usually paid for i dont think i would be quite so motivated....professional/businessman or other

General

I  can only agree with the comments that have  been made about the new manager or should I say the french man who will be our manager soon (but not sure when)

When the Mr Lerner took over my club I believed that at last we had got an owner who would give us a bright future but at the moment it seems that we are becoming a rudderless ship, and there is alot of apathy amongst the fans at the moment!! as the drop in attendances has proved

Can you please let us know the exact date when Mr H will become our Manager??, and can you please explain to him that 12th place is not good enough for this club!!

Also would it not be possible for Mr Lerner to give an interview to the local press or even in the programme and clearly explain his vision of where the club is and the plans for the future?

A response to this would be great

I'm sorry general , but I agree with some posters that the way we are being run is very worrying at the moment- this is football and not the NFL and having spent nothing on the team this summer , we now have a manager who can't manage us and shirts 4 months late- if this had happened under ellis there would be uproar- randy us lucky to have escaped the flack!

Why did you not keep Steve stride on the payroll- it seems faulkener is way out of his depth .

As for houllier we need him now not next week or next month!

Dear General

Like many others, I must admit at feeling angry and dissapointed at the present situation regarding the lack of clarity over just when GH will start. Can the club please communicate with us loyal fans as to just when this is going to happen?

P.S Unlike many, I saw many poisitives from our play tonight.

General, I have to say it's about time Mr Lerner came out and told the fans exactly what's goimg on! He can't just stay in the shadows all the time especially in these uncertain times. WE NEED STRONG LEADERSHIP AND DIRECTION!! not the current rudderless ship. I can't even buy a replica shirt if I wanted to! I backed the club by spending £495.00 on a season ticket - but what have I got in return?

General i have to say letting Steve Stride go was not the smartest move, at least he knew the premiership
from back to front we appear to have gone from one calamity to another since his departure.

I am really angry and disheartened by Aston Villa.

Does Randy understand that it is alot easier to keep a fanbase than too attract one?
Because the shambolic way Aston Villa is being run is driving fans away.

We should be planning for the future, instead we have appointed a manager who can't actually manage yet, on a short term contract.

We have not invested in the squad sufficiently, goals win you games and when we turn up at Stoke and they have 4 strikers that would walk into our team (tuncay, fuller, jones, eidur), is very underwhelming. They are Stoke for gooness sake.

General,
Proud history bright future ..........?  I for one feel as much as the club lifted with the appointment of Martin and your takeover ,it is spiraling lower and lower , if seems to be a laughing stock I'm some cases .we ned to be stabilized quickly , silly things like the shirts is poor , could you imAgine uproar at other clubs if they could not go and buy their shirts until month or so before January sales .and now the manager situation is a joke no signing , we were inferior to stoke for goodness sake in terms of bench , not that we would have changed it tactically .Randy needs to start speaking I think , sometimes the silence is too much , I for one am bemused by this season s on goings .do me a favor let our manager know the result .
Fingers crossed for the comedy to end ,

It is a poor day when we have to resort to selling tickets for the Chelsea game at £15 each. That match is just over a month away. It would appear that the club have no confidence in things getting better in that period to have to resort to cheap seats for a match in the highest category of ticket pricing.

Would you rather pay £40?

If I was the critical type - "Shower of Shit" and "Couldn't organise a Piss up in Aston Manor Brewery" would spring to mind!

Luckily I'm not and to show my commitment to the club I have my kids and their mates working all hours making replica shirts to sell to loyal fans at a very reasonable price. Its amazing what can be done with Crayola and T-shirts from George.

Let me know your size and I will make sure I save one for you.

Cheers

As it happens, my seats have already been paid for so I have no say in the matter.

I was pointing out what a poor state we are in when we have to resort to cheap seats a month in advance of a match against one of the top clubs in the league.

If this continues then there will be fewer and fewer season ticket holders if they can pick up tickets on a match by match basis at such a price. Ticket prices like this used to apply for games like Wigan and Bolton; not Chelsea.

Spot on and I fall into this category as I'm sure plenty of others do.

I must have got something wrong though as last week I paid £35.00 for my Bolton ticket and today received a post card from the club offering me a ticket for £10.00!!
