General, when Nike came on board, were they convinced that, with the connections the club had with IMG (was it IMG?), a new billionaire owner, etc, that we were going to be the team to crack the 'Top 4' and now they're simply not bothered with us and are using this 'delay' as a way of getting Villa to cancel the contract?
General Krulak here:1. The kit: Obviously the Club is HUGELY disappointed in the kit issue. As far as I can determine, the initial production was faulty...a loose weave that would have caused snagging and possible ripping. There was no way that the Club would put a substandard item on sale for its Fans. Simple as that. The new sponsor timing had absolutely NOTHING to do with this issue. It is easy to say that we should have had the new sponsor earlier...but that would not have changed this issue AND, getting the new sponsor WAS started very early but nailing down the contract is not necessarily all in our purview. Nike has indicated that they will provide some financial help as a result of this problem but that misses the key point...we WANT our Fans to have the new shirt. Heck, I want one! We have a contract with Nike that goes for one more year. There is absolutely NO indication that Nike has an issue with our 6th place finish...that is simply not the case. This was a production problem that was solely a Nike problem...we can be blamed for many things (I certainly can!!) but the loose weave is not one we should shoulder. We are as upset as the fans.
