General,

Given that:

1. Nike used a template for our home and away kit that they gave to RC Lens in France in 2008/09 season and effectively just changed the colours and the badge, whilst bringing out new templates this season for its other teams; and

2. they have been unable to properly manufacture both the new kits

do you think that that the club and fans have received a below standard level of service from Nike?

p.s. let's go back to umbro and recreate the 80-81 shirts mocked up on here in the summer

As other posters have mentioned, with Nike recycling other team's kit designs for us, followed by this utter farce in making them available, I think serious questions need to be asked as to their commitment to the partnership.

As it is, I think that keeping these kits for a second season is not only advisable, it's the only solution that's in any way acceptable.

I personally think charging £45 for a replica shirt that will only be valid for 7 months is awful
I feel that every season ticket holder should be sent a shirt free of charge

That's fine, as long as you don't start moaning when we can't sign players due to a drastic cut in our turnover.

Hold on Villa have fucked up here, chelsea played in their new kit last season, ours is still not ready?

How much revenue have we lost not having a replica shirt for sale? i always buy both kits for my summer holiday but now i will probably only buy one (even though it is the worst kit i can remember), so we are loosing revenue already.

General, when Nike came on board, were they convinced that, with the connections the club had with IMG (was it IMG?), a new billionaire owner, etc, that we were going to be the team to crack the 'Top 4' and now they're simply not bothered with us and are using this 'delay' as a way of getting Villa to cancel the contract?

Interesting theory Troy.

General

Does this cock up with the new kits affect the deal with FX Pro at all?  Presumably they were expecting to have 50,000 people walking round Birmingham advertising their product all season, which now isn't going to happen until November.

Hi General

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before, I'm aware that the big screen by the North Stand and Doug Ellis has been taken down because of the work planned for the North Stand but is there any plans for the screen to return this season?

I know there is a temporary electronic board in place on the opposite end, but to be honest theres quite a few of us in the Upper Trinity stand missing the screen :-(

Thanks

General

Many people are cheesed off with the kit debacle and have suggested that the new kit is retained for next season as well.
Is there any truth in the rumour that next seasons kit will involve a chequered design and that it may be like the Croatia kit in its style?

General Krulak here:

1.  The kit:  Obviously the Club is HUGELY disappointed in the kit issue.  As far as I can determine, the initial production was faulty...a loose weave that would have caused snagging and possible ripping.  There was no way that the Club would put a substandard item on sale for its Fans.  Simple as that.  The new sponsor timing had absolutely NOTHING to do with this issue.  It is easy to say that we should have had the new sponsor earlier...but that would not have changed this issue AND, getting the new sponsor WAS started very early but nailing down the contract is not necessarily all in our purview.  Nike has indicated that they will provide some financial help as a result of this problem but that misses the key point...we WANT our Fans to have the new shirt.  Heck, I want one!  We have a contract with Nike that goes for one more year.  There is absolutely NO indication that Nike has an issue with our 6th place finish...that is simply not the case.  This was a production problem that was solely a Nike problem...we can be blamed for many things (I certainly can!!) but the loose weave is not one we should shoulder.  We are as upset as the fans.

General Sir
I was wondering if you could be of help on an issue!?
I visited the villa village this am and then the store in B'ham centre.
On sale in both stores is the 1982 Davenports villa shirt home and away!
I really want to purchase the home one in size large!
There are none in stock and I couldn't get an answer on future deliveries?
I was told to look online but having just dove that the Davenports home shirt is not on sale online but the away one us which is a bit strange!?
Is there anyone I could contact in regards ordering me one in?
Kind regards

I personally don't have a problem with the new shirt being delayed (even though I think it's not very good service) because I think too many people get sucked into buying a new shirt every season. I hope we stick with Nike for a long time because afterall, Nike are the biggest and best sportswear company in the world with all the best teams having Nike as their kit sponsor and with Villa having Nike, it only does more good making us having a great kit sponsor who make kits for big teams. As they say over in America, ''look good feel good play good''

Nike > any other kit sponsor.

Thanks general,

so this financial help from nike the club are getting.  is this going to be passed onto the fans in some form of discount on the shirts becasue i usually but the home and the away shirt each season but this season i dont want to pay £45 for a shirt ( and i dont care if there is free shirt printing as i thinkn its tacky )  so this season i may not be buying one and i will be dissapointed that i can have the shirts to wear to the games but what is the point in paying £90 in november for two shirts and then possibly paying another £90 in july / august next year.
