If anyone was in any doubt about the appointment of Mac. Then if you have seen Houlliers press conference you will know the difference in his approach, enthusiasm and proffessional competence that they are worlds apart. Houllier has energy and is positive in his deliberation. Mac was negative and that would reflect on the players. Fell much better having seen that press conference ...........

There's no point Kev Mc doing a job he's not comfortable with, managing the reserves could be a job for life for him, as an assistant manager he could be out in 2 years if things don't work out.

Looks like KM was offered the assistant role and turned it down.  Shame I think the 2 of them would have a made a good team.

That's true. As reserve team coach he's under the radar of any new manager.

I think just that he's addressing it. I think the bit about the 3 months is that FFF could have insisted on 3 month, but they obviously aren't. he has some final details to look after, but managing ahead of the Bolton game may not happen. But he'll be there.

He said KMc wanted to go back to Reserve Team Manager and it was a shame as he could have been assistant and maybe followed him

He also metioned that assistants and staff that he wants are already employed so he needs to work on that and it will take time etc

MacDonald is so clearly not cut out for the manager's job it kind of makes you wonder why Randy was so keen to give it to him.

was Randy keen to give it to him, or was he keen to give him every opportunity to apply and put forward his case? I know out here, people are often encouraged to apply for jobs even if they aren't fully qualified to get the experience of an interview, and even in rejection know what they have to work on. Maybe that was it. In a straight fight between Houllier and KM, Houllier wins every time. It's not even close.

I really don't think MacDonald was encouraged to go through what, for him, appeared to be an agonising process, in order to get interview experience and feedback!

I just think Randy was very keen on appointing MacDonald until the Newcastle and Rapid Vienna results were so bad that he wised up and looked for someone more experienced.

He came across well. Seemed relaxed, in possession of a sense of humour and, dare I say it, charming. Now let's see what he can do with the team.

I'm absolutely certain that the board wanted to give Kevin the job until results went wrong. Even then things might have turned out different had we thumped Everton convincingly.
