v Sunderland, 27 December 1966.

We had played them at their place the day before as was the custom back then at Christmas and lost 2-1. This day we won 2-1 after being a goal down. Lew Chatterley from a penalty and Keith Bradley were our scorers.

My Dad had relatives who lived in Frederick Road and parked outside their house.

First home game was Boxing Day 1977 1-1 draw against Coventry City. Remember very little other than shitting myself as was afraid of heights and we were at the back ofthe brand new North Stand.

First away game was Boxing Day 1982 at Blose - enough said about that one!

First game was v Everton in season 65/66, we won 3-2 having been 3-0 up. And my second, seeing as you ask was 2-1 v Man Utd- Charlton, Best , Law and all -in 66/67 when they won the League & we were relegated. Third was the infamous 2-4 v Small Heath at the start of 67/68 after which I went regularly

Mine was an FA cup defeat at home to Rotherham in 1968. The other two games I recall from that season were also losses, 4-2 to Bristol City and 2-1 to QPR. I had to wait till that November for my first win, 1-0 at home to Middlesbrough.

We share a match day debut Pat- the Rotherham match was first Villa game too. Stood at the front of the Holte and spent as much time trying to see the back as watching the match.

I don't remember my first game. My dad often tells.me.he took me to see pele but I was a mere toddler at the time and have no recollection of that game but just going by the date it has to be one of my firsts.

My first vague memories of matches are all from the mid seventies. Sitting in the trinity up with my dad and his best mate (a blue nose) against blues I remember crying as we were losing but came back to win 2-1. A have vague recollection of a game against wba.

Early away games I seem to remember standing at the baseball ground and charlie Aitken taking a throw in right in front of me. I also remember a cup game at Everton and sitting behind the goals we got hammered and had a player. Sent off.

41 years ago today (the rags scored first and their fans were jumping around in the pouring rain on the old uncovered Witton End - the Holte's response was "we hope you're getting wet" - not to worry though Hamilton and Little won it for us in the second half.  I've mentioned on here before, that was a very eagerly anticipated game as it was the first game between us and them in the top division for 10 years).

Is it bad that I don't remember my first Villa game?
I honestly don't know what my first Villa game was. Is that bad?

Nope, I don't know mine and both my folks passed a long time ago so I never will. All I know is it would have most likely have been 1975 when I was 5.

Glad I looked first, I was going to post the same thing as you Dave.  I have no clue.

Was that the game where the never-lovable Kenny Burns tried to amputate John Robson's leg?

I think there were about 46k there that day. Does that sound correct ( or ludicrously high for the Sty?)

2-0 defeat to QPR, January 1976. A freezing cold day, Chris Nicholl fell onto the frozen pitch and dislocated his shoulder. The match is notable for being Charlie Aitken's last appearance. QPR were quite a team back then, finished 2nd in the league, I don't remember their lineup but I'd imagine the likes of McLintock, Masson, Francis, Bowles and Givens were playing. I was just excited to see heroes like Gidman, Aitken, Graydon, Hamilton and Gray.

I remember being one of the 46,251,  stood on the corner of the Tilton - where it meets the main stand - as far away from the kop as possible.  As an excited 18 year old I remember a solitary nose stood outside the Tilton hurling foul and abusive remarks at us - for some reason I've never forgot that, I went with a couple of work colleagues, about 10 years older than me, who were actually neutrals - they were strongly advising me not to react.  I wonder where that person is now ? He looked around my age so now would be pushing the big six 0.

I do remember an extremely hostile atmosphere - as it always was and no doubt still is - I've not been since 1985.
