Mine was an FA cup defeat at home to Rotherham in 1968. The other two games I recall from that season were also losses, 4-2 to Bristol City and 2-1 to QPR. I had to wait till that November for my first win, 1-0 at home to Middlesbrough.
I don't remember my first game. My dad often tells.me.he took me to see pele but I was a mere toddler at the time and have no recollection of that game but just going by the date it has to be one of my firsts. My first vague memories of matches are all from the mid seventies. Sitting in the trinity up with my dad and his best mate (a blue nose) against blues I remember crying as we were losing but came back to win 2-1. A have vague recollection of a game against wba. Early away games I seem to remember standing at the baseball ground and charlie Aitken taking a throw in right in front of me. I also remember a cup game at Everton and sitting behind the goals we got hammered and had a player. Sent off.

I've mentioned on here before, that was a very eagerly anticipated game as it was the first game between us and them in the top division for 10 years).

The return at the sty was a cracker I know we lost 3-2 but just seemed to be villa everwhere

As an excited 18 year old I remember a solitary nose stood outside the Tilton hurling foul and abusive remarks at us - for some reason I've never forgot that, I went with a couple of work colleagues, about 10 years older than me, who were actually neutrals - they were strongly advising me not to react. I wonder where that person is now ? He looked around my age so now would be pushing the big six 0.I do remember an extremely hostile atmosphere - as it always was and no doubt still is - I've not been since 1985.
