Santos, Monday February 1972. Villa won the friendly 2-1. The first time I had stood on the Mighty Holte, still sends tingles up my spine. Although it was a friendly the ground was rammed, 57K was the official figure but people who "know" put the figure much higher as fans were climbing over gates and walls to get in as the gates were closed an hour before kick off. We also bought tickets at the gate on the night!

1980-81 Ipswich at home, when we lost to the "rightful" champions. I was only 7 but at least I can say we say us in a championship winning season.
You had my ticket as I was poorly! Jonah!

My first away game was a 2-1 win over Coventry at Highfield road in 96/97 when Staunton got the winner with a screamer.

That was my first away game as well.

I prefer not to mention my first away game to any non Villa supporter, it was September 1968 away to the rags (lost 4-0).  My memory is standing on the old Railway end with a mixture of both them and us !

My first Villa match was 1-0 v Chelsea in 89/90 when we were gunning for the title. Sid got the goal IIRC.

Div 2 - Last home game - Sunderland - 2-0 - Attendance = 57k
Not sure I could have picked a better game?

I'm celebrating my Villa 50th birthday next month.

First home game 8/10/1966 Villa 3 Leeds 0. Chatterley, Woodward(2)
First away game  3/1/1967 Preston 0 Villa 1 (FAC3) Dave Roberts

We got relegated end of the season and I'm still waiting to see us win the Cup.

Very first home game I was 2 or 3 yrs old. My dad was a Villa fanatic & couldn't wait to get me " blooded". I remember almost non of it. First game I clearly remember was the famous 11..1 win over Charlton.

My dad had taken me for the initiation when I was a toddler but I have no recollection. The first game I vaguely remember was playing Blackburn in 1962 when my uncle took me. I was nearly eight years old and it was the sight of Derek Dougan that stuck in my mind.

My first match was actually two matches.

Allan Evans' Testimonial, featured the Villa European Cup Winning team against (I think) an older Villa Old Stars team, followed by newly-promoted to Division One Villa vs newly-promoted to Division Two Walsall.

Villa European Cup won one-nil and Villa won four-two. Spink played in both games. Can't remember if Cowans or Evans did. My main memory is struggling to tell whether we had scored or if the ball had hit the side netting.

I remember falling in love at first sight with Alan McInally though no idea if he scored.

I think it was a Friday night but I may be wrong.

First away game was a one-nil loss at Sheffield Wednesday at an eerie Hillsborough. It felt odd to be at a game with stands closed off.

Some young forward called Dalian scored the winner.

Away to Spurs at White Hart Lane in January 1964.

We were 3-0 down when my Dad decided it was time to leave so I missed Harry Burrows 'consolation' goal.

52 years later and I never, ever leave a match before the end!

I honestly don't know what my first Villa game was. Is that bad?

Nope, I don't know mine and both my folks passed a long time ago so I never will. All I know is it would have most likely have been 1975 when I was 5.

Same here , my late Father took me down in the early 70's.The only thing I know about the game is that Charlie Aitken was playing.I asked my Dad to pick me up and show me  who Charlie was, I spent the rest of the game kicking paper cups round the old Witton terrace !

Mine was an FA cup defeat at home to Rotherham in 1968. The other two games I recall from that season were also losses, 4-2 to Bristol City and 2-1 to QPR. I had to wait till that November for my first win, 1-0 at home to Middlesbrough.

I have a recollection of being sat upstairs in the Trinity in a 6-2 home defeat to Chelsea but this may be a false memory. My "memory" is of my dad pointing out Tony Hateley saying he used to play for Villa. As my dad died over 20 years ago I'll never know if I was there or not.
