You never know what is round the corner so there is plenty to talk about
Another really important question that needs to be answered is,
What the hell are we all going to do with our spare time once we've got our new manager and there's not as much to talk about on here?
Should we sack the new manager/who should replace him.

The Time Wasters forum I guess.
I say the time to sack the manager we have not even got in yet is NOW! (before he's got a chance to ruin it) The fans demand more from him and he really has not delivered anything at all, where are the new signings, where are the cups! The time for new new new blood is now!
Petrov has no idea who is new boss will be... aplogise if already posted elsewhere...
Petrov said: "We would like to know who is going to take charge, who is going to be involved.
"But there is now going to be a 10-day international break and we will see more clear things.
"It would be great to know who the new manager is. I hope he can be announced before the window closes so he can get some players in.
"Every manager has got his own ideas so it would be nice."
(From Tribal football- yes I know, but it does have quotes).

Good to see their minds are firmly on Sunday's game.
I hope our captain is shouting this:-
"I hope he can be announced before the window closes so he can get some players in".
I do not think that two, three weeks means you settle for second best, and in 'getting a new manager' terms it is not that quick. You get the best you possibly can, and if you are not 100% sure then a 1 year contract is the way to go.
The lack of interviews by now suggests that the club wanted MacDonald. Surely, it's clear now that that is not a sensible option. The tone has changed. There has been no umming and ahhing about it being such a great opportunity by MacDonald post Rapid loss, and Petrov's rhetoric has quickly changed from 'sign up MacDonald', to 'bring someone in!'. The club must now be looking for someone, but to have been caught short by this.
The times are pretty dark. We've gone from speculating about what players may strengthen us a few weeks ago to struggling to hold onto Young, playing terribly without a manager and no prospect of strengthening at all this window.
And it's hard not to think the worst because there has been no communication with us. MacDonald has been speaking for the club for weeks. Lerner, Faulkner, or even the General need to represent the club to the media and the fans. The General's comments on here have done nothing to quell anxiety; he seems quite anxious himself! It's all unraveling pretty fast.
Anyway: (
Telegraph)
Petrov is speaking out; even MacDonald is too.
A reported bid from Tottenham for Ashley Young is the latest turbulence to hit the Midlands club.
Villa insist they will not part with Young or any of their major players — “it might not be their choice [to go],” caretaker manager Kevin MacDonald said, “if the club needs them, and they are under contract” — but it is another unwanted distraction as Villa’s board seek desperately to restore stability, a task which was made no easier by defeat to Rapid Vienna on Thursday night.
Randy Lerner, the club’s owner, and Paul Faulkner, the chief executive, had been hoping that MacDonald would be the natural successor to O’Neill, especially after his first game in charge, a convincing 3-0 win over West Ham.
But given that his team have conceded nine goals in their last two games, including last Sunday’s 6-0 drubbing at Newcastle, they must now intensify their search for alternatives (though a good result against Everton on Sunday could shake things up).
Phil Brown, the former Hull City manager, and Cardiff City’s Dave Jones have joined the growing list of managers interested in the job, while the USA’s World Cup boss Bob Bradley has re-emerged as the bookmakers’ favourite. Sources in America last night suggested that the job is the American’s if he wants it, but Villa have denied this.
Either way, time is running out. Agents were informed yesterday that the club will be interviewing candidates next week, but with question marks over the fitness of Gabby Agbonlahor and John Carew, the need to bolster the squad is undisputed.
“The results of the last two games would suggest that,” MacDonald conceded. “As far as I know there is nothing on the horizon.”
Stiliyan Petrov, his tongue loosened by the dispiriting defeat against Rapid, revealed that the players were also uneasy over the lack of action in the transfer window.
“I hope [Lerner] can announce [the next manager] before the window closes so we can get some players in,” the captain said. “Every other team is strengthening.”
O’Neill may have alienated some players, but he held the club together.
Players speaking out is a bad sign, and the worry is that Villa will fail to appoint a manager to take the situation by the scruff of the neck before their marquee names try to secure themselves a move to less tempestuous climes.
Link is "broken". So what did the "Cheating" Dutchman say?

The usual shite about tradition and the passion of English football - he thinks that winning is important and enjoyed the West Ham game. Cheating England aside - I think this could be a realistic target who knows he may even lead us to round one of Europa League.
I hated Koeman as a kid but give him credit he's saying all the right things there.
Having someone with such a wealth of continental experience would be invaluable.
Ticks all the right boxes for me.

Yes it would nice to have a Coach who makes Europe a priority and understands that future is all about EL and PL and domestic football is a stepping stone to that however he has a very mixed record as a Coach at Club level.

A mixed record is better than no record at all (Bradley/Macdonald)
