The fact that books are still open suggests to me that this could just be a load of money being bet on Sven as a result of dodgy rumours.

  I think the positives of Sven are thus;

- Successful club manager, relatively speaking. Certainly more successful a boss than we’ve had appointed in many a year
- Large knowledge of the European market
- Plays relatively good football
- A big name
- He knows the English game well

The negatives for me are;

- Lack of training ground discipline

I agree with three of the positives, but I can't agree about the 'good football' aspect. He comes from a school in Sweden...

I'm on the Hagley Road - I'll pop down to the Hyatt and do a room by room search.

Svens cv is much more impressive than mons and he has managed at top level in many countries, I would hope he would be able to pick up a couple of bargains with all his contacts and the more I think about it , the more I like the idea- we will be very high profile with him, anyone fancy becks as player coach?

My main concern would be as to just how carefully researched our appointment had been (no matter who it was) if we were to appoint someone today.

Which is why we won't, I suspect.

Not sure about Sven.

I don't have his managerial career to hand but I seem to remember he took the England job sooner than expected because he was making such a poor fist of it at his club side at the time (can't remember if it was Roma or Lazio).

Just a thought. Oh and I've just seen Fariah Allam on the piss on Broad Street. ;)

I wouldn't be devastated if it were Sven - there are a lot worse option.  Had a thought this morning - what about Scolari?  Not even mentioned and he might fancy another crack at the PL after not quite proving himself at Chelsea.  Last I heard he went back to manage in Brazil I think.  Surely a safer pair of hands than many of those in the rather long shot list?

I wouldn't. Beware empty glamour, Beckham has a total of zero pedigree as a coach and has always said he has no desire to coach anything other than the kids at those camps of his.

I first saw the suggestion of Becks as player coach and had a little laugh. Then I thought about it a bit more and player coach, with one of his academies attached to the BMH complex would seem to be a good idea.

Maybe it is just a crazy idea but I like the "outside the box" thinking.

I agree, with both points. I think the heady atmosphere of this week has caused us all to get a little carried away with tittle tattle.
