Sven advising on the manager search? Or advising McDonald with team selection. I would prefer him as manager to DOF but as manager with a bried to bring through McDonald to take over in 2 years for example might be worth a look.

Sven did well at City, the wheels fell off when they had a stupidly bad injury list and were forced to play Elano at right back, while having no strikers fit and the flop Bianchi not scoring goals and going back to Italy early.

Plus Bojinov got injured and never played I don't think.

Yeah, he might not be the best long term manager but Citeh were a state when he came in and he used his contacts and got players like Corluka, Elano, Bojinov, Petrov in at short notice. Undoubtedly quality for good fees (although Bojinov was ruined by injury).

Geovanni isn't the best, but for a free transfer it was a good signing too.

Bianchi and Garrido didn't work out, mind. Bianchi was good before and after Citeh though, so maybe it was just the madness going on there that didn't help him.

Mark, how is Sven thought of in Portugal after his time with Benfica? I realise this was a while ago...

Dint he have a 75% win rate in both times there..

She was looking rough as nails on Shooting Stars last night.

She's got that Deirdre Barlow neck thing.

I can't remember, did Ireland figure under Sven's reign at Man City?

yep he brought him into the side.  Played some of his best football under Sven.

Played 39 games and scored 4, in all competitions.

Sven might be ok as a stop gap given the timing it would appear there are not alot of viable options around..Jol would still be my choice

Not bad for a 21 year old in his break through season.

Actually the fact that it was the Fake Sheikh is significant. Sven was willing to come and work for a club that would basically be Man City-like in wealth.

Well of course. It makes a managers job about a 1000000000 % easier if money is no object. I think Sven would make the most of whatever he had though. Or at least he wouldn't balk at taking a job that wasnt lavishly funded.

The effect of Svens corrosive manfish no doubt.

  I think the positives of Sven are thus;

- Successful club manager, relatively speaking. Certainly more successful a boss than we’ve had appointed in many a year
- Large knowledge of the European market
- Plays relatively good football
- A big name
- He knows the English game well

The negatives for me are;

- Lack of training ground discipline

If he can pick up some of these Brazillians he knows alot about like when he signed elano for e.g , that would be good...      We have a good squad bring in Ireland and a goalscorer for a start and get some of the unhappy players playing again , he might be alright on a 12 mth contract..

Atleast Sven will be a bit more adventurous in the market and he's got the medals to make the players respect him.

How long until we're linked to Beckham if we get Sven?

So appoint him and then a bastard of a coach to keep the boys on their toes.
