Walker can play left back can't he? I would be tempted to try him there and switch Cuellar to right back, just till the end of the season when we will buy a new left back.
He probably can but then you have got 2 players playing out of their natural positions which in my opinion we shouldnt be doing...I would prefer to give Lichaj a chance at left back and I would put Carlos in the centre of defence with James Collins
Two right-footers though which I think is the problem.

Collins and Cuellar wouldn't have much in the way of balance.

What about Clarke and Cuellar in the centre?

I'm not sure I would try Lichaj at left back he is only young and if it went wrong it might affect his confidence badly. Walker is a Spurs player so will obviously be an arrogant bastard so no problem there. I don't dislike your idea though. How about... Lichaj at right back, Walker at left back, Collins and Cuellar in central defence, Dunne in Pizza Hut?

How about Lichaj, Cuellar, Clark and Walker..........3 young players but the 3 youngsters have all got U/21 caps at least ( I think) added with Carlos's experience and Maarten Stekelenburg in goal

That back four would do for now but I would want a proper left back in the Summer with Lichaj as back-up to either Walker or a new right-back. I don't expect to see much of Luke Young or Habib Beye at THOWF again. Dunno about Sketelenburg, isn't that a small mining town near Ulm?

I agree we need a new left back in the summer and Maarten Stekelenburg is the Ajax and current Dutch no1 goalkeeper

Ah, cheers. Yeah, sign him then. Although if Man U and Arsenal are both after new keepers we might have to go for a lower-profile target. What's Gabor Kiraly up to these days?

Stekelenburg has previous turned down Man Utd to stay at Ajax, so I'd be surprised if we were too high up on his list.

Enyeama from Hapoel Tel Aviv would be my shout. Shouldn't be much competition and looked astonishingly good at the World Cup.

Could easily be a mistake though.

He will be chased by a lot of top clubs as will De Gea, Neuer, Akineev, etc but I think we need to buy a top quality goalie.........Shay Given anyone

I don't think Dunne should play left back. That is too close to the sidelines. He will spend most of the match saying to nearby fans "get us a burger, will ya?".

Clark is part of the solution. Dunne is part of the problem. However they are not matched. This is a problenmfor  someone paid £2m a year to solve!

4 clean sheets on the trot now for Liverpool would suggest they are. That or they have a manager who can sort the defence

Personally I reckon Steve Clarke has sorted the defence out as much as Kenny. Wished we had got him in as first team coach instead of Gary Mac. The other thing he changed was dumping Koncheskey and playing Kelly. He also moved Johnson across and pretty much told him to concentrate on defending rather then getting forward so he is rarely caught out of position even though he is on the "wrong" side.

True, and I don't think Clark should play there, at the weekend he offered very little to the attack so hopefully he will replace Dunne before we lose him like we lost Cahill.
