I've been watching that till the missus commandeered the TV for the fucking X Factor, the other team are appalling aint they?

I've suffered the same fate every night since I came back from Bradford on Tuesday if you throw in I'm a Celebrity and The Apprentice.

It's getting beyond a joke now.

Amen to that brother.  Utter, utter filth.

Just noticed that Norwich & Derby had more fans at their home games than SHA & WBA did for big games.

Odd.

Who can fail to be entertained by watching a load of people you've never heard of eating bugs and moaning with a backdrop of boobies?

Why do you equate  top teams losing games to PL is mediocre?  This is the way it should be. No one Club in PL should turn  up at an away ground and expect to win  as was  the case before this season.
In a way  what Man City have done is good that they have diverted some players away from United and Chelsea. The other factor is that top performers in the world cup have either chosen to go to  RM and Barca or their great players have decided to stay in Spain and not follow money to England.
This is time  now for Clubs  like us to make a major impact.

I agree with that. It's shit for Sky and the gloryhunting wankers who support such clubs but it's better for the neutrals and competition.

I agree, did you see how Jeff Stelling was almost coming in his pants ,willing Chelsea to score today ? I know it was against the shite, but I was so glad it didn't happen. This seson is a breath of fresh air for football in the premier league,so far.

The PL really is mediocre this year
no TV it's not it's more competitive. Today I watched blues beat Chelsea and they deserved it. It's levelling out and that is good for fans.

Just because it's more competitive i.e that is any team can beat any other on their day, doesn't mean that it isn't mediocre. In my opinion the quality of football on offer this season is poorer overall. There is a genuine lack of world stars in the league plus the remaining big name players are either injured or not producing consistently thus contributing to that mediocrity.

EDIT: I should add I'm not really complaining from a Villa perspective. Anything that gives us a better chance to succeed is fine by me.

I've already agreed with that point by making it myself. However, it's undeniable that if the clubs that had the best players no longer have a monopoly on them, for whatever reason that the standard of football being played by those teams drops, and as a consequence the overall quality of the football on offer dips a little. It's not like the clubs outside of the top 7 or 8 from last year have made massive strides as such, but simply that the gap between the very top teams and the rest is much closer. It's a good thing that it's more competitive but it's happened because the top teams cannot just financially bully their way past everyone anymore. And even if they can like Man City, they are still governed by the 25 man PL rule restricting squad size and dictates home grown content.

In my opinion we are now seeing somewhat of a rebalancing of the game in England, and while it won't happen overnight, it makes a pleasant change knowing that the game is more interesting because you really cannot predict the result of any game before it starts. And yes, the game can become more interesting to fans of the "other" clubs (including us) by becoming more mediocre as a product.

Almeria 0 - 8 Barca?  Almeria coach sacked apparently.  Seems the closing of the gap isn't so apparent in spain...

I definitely agree with Toronto here.  The Man U that contained Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez is light years better than this year's champions.  To echo others, I'm not particularly complaining though - it makes it more interesting for the average punter, even if english clubs are likely to do less well in the Chumps League.

someone mentioned the 25-man squad rule earlier.  I originally thought this was a pretty bobbins way of leveling the field but it actually may be working as the top teams have to play more games, which will stretch their player resources further than say villa.  So qualification for Europe equals more income but a more fatigued squad.

They did lose 2-0 at home to newly promoted Hercules though.
