I'm starting to get confused here. Bale isn't world class but he might be if he moved and he would move if he was that good. In that case why did Alan Shearer stay at Newcastle? Totti with Roma? del Pierro with Juventus?

At the moment you would have to say Spurs are much better than us, play far more attractive football, Bale is streets ahead of Ash and 'arry seems to have done a much better job than MON ever did, long-term that is. However, things can change very quickly in football which is one of its big attractions as well as a huge frustration on occasions as we and Spurs fans know only two well as two of the biggest 'nearly clubs' in the league....

All the above said through very gritted teeth as ever but you have to hold your hands up on occasions!

There hasn't been a lot to cheer of late in football.

I'm still hoping that lovely Cristiano Ronaldo's Real Madrid end up knocking Manure out of Europe this year.

Bale always had a huge amount of talent but suffered because he isn't particularly good defensively.

He murdered us in the 4-4 draw two or three years ago and then got tarred with being the player that hadn't played in a winning team for Spurs.

He almost went on loan to Birmingham 18 months ago and then Redknapp struck lucky when Assieu-Ekoto got injured.

Hugely exciting player to watch but Inter didn't learn from the first leg and mark him well enough.

I'd agree Spurs are a lot better than us right now, but although they're not a one man team, I do think Bale is elevating them at the moment.  Whether it's a period of exceptional form from a good player or the emergence of a true world class player remains to be seen.  If he keeps going he'll be off to one of the 'giants' and if his form doesn't hold out they'll suffer due to their over reliance on him.

I think our ability to catch them will depend on how well they spend the money if/when he goes.

Never mind being in the Champions League, I'd give my right arm just to see us put in a performance like that once in a while.

Bale is on a different planet to Ashley and has been for a while now.

There is an ape gag in here somewhere.

I hate Spurs more than any other team, by a distance but even I have to begrudgingly admit they were top draw last night.

Spurs problem with Bale is that he is Welsh so the World Cup and Euros are probably not going to feature for him.  Playing at the highest level for him will be the Champions League. Spurs may have to qualify each year to keep him if he continues at his present rate of progress

Sadly that might happen.

For some reason unlike many on here I have no issues with Spurs Ive always thought they have tried to play attractive football and always attract the kind of player you would pay to watch alone.

Bale was outstanding in both games against Inter not just his electric pace but delivering a ball even Crouch/heskey couldnt miss.

Ash wouldnt get in that current team and he needs to work on his final ball to take that step up, I would like to think Albrighton could be as could for us as his delivery already is quite decent.

I admit to feeling totally jealous about not playing those big games like spurs are currently and having at least one marquee signing.
