Our future is so so bleak and watching that makes it worse.  Oh for the days of pushing for the Champions League.........

I actually think Young was playing at Bale's level throughout the whole of 2008.

Since then nowwhere near that form apart from some off flashes.

Spurs v Inter was a fantastic game of football. Compared to  dross we watched on Sunday...well there is no comparison.  Agree with others that Spurs look a difference level from us however the difference is two players of supreme class VDV and Bale. Others are same as our lot...so there is still a chance for us.

Very few flashes and he goes missing in games much too often, like Sunday

The defences are alike but Spurs have a lot more creativity in midfield like Modric, Krancjar and Four strikers to choose from where we only have 2 in Heskey and Gabby (Carew isnt interested and the Fonz's face does not fit

As sickening as it is to admit, Spurs have been on a different level to us for a couple of seasons. We have a chance to get better over the next couple of seasons, but Champions League? I won't be putting my house on it.

I'm not sure how spurs do it but they're not living beyond their means either.  Whilst they sign a fair few players, they generally recoup a fair whack selling a "star" every now and then which is then reinvested in more youngsters

There is nothing in their methods that villa cannot copy especially as we can now spread our net a bit further with scouting and signing new players.

You've got to take your hat off to Spurs. They absolutely mullered the European champions. Really enjoyed the game.

Spurs were able to smother the play in Inter’s final third and they didn’t move the ball quick enough and looked poor. Fair play to Spurs, Dr Zaius is like lightening isn’t he?

I agree, hats off to them....said through gritted teeth mind you!

Anyone care to still pedal the argument that Ashley Young is better than Gareth Bale? Even given that the latter is in a rich vein of form, I'm afraid Bale is a long way ahead in every department including not falling over every two minutes

He also makes the right decisions for me. Ash doesn't do this and that was particularly noticeable on Sunday.

Exactly as I saw it. By the time Inter started an attack they had allowed Spurs to get all their men back and were trying to play through 9 white shirts. The rest was then get the ball to Bale

In some ways I'm glad we never made the top 4 under the previous manager when we had the chance as our counter attacking style of giving the opposition 60% of the ball would've been brutally exposed at that level so it wouldn't have been much fun imo.

Spurs have so many good technical ball players they look comfortable at that level, only one in comparison we have is Ireland who's struggling to fit in here.

However, I do think the longer Spurs are in this competition the more they'll drop points in the prem so strangely I think we have a better chance of finishing above them this season than last.

They've already lost to West Ham and Wigan this season remember.

I remembered who was saying he wasn't as good as Ash after his hat trick last match. Looking at some of the other statements recently from the same person I can see the norm for utter tosh in the postings.

I reckon that Ash would be better being more direct myself like Bale but he seems to think he has to beat a man three times in every match now and very rarely plays a first time ball in.
