I do  not want Bolton winning today as that will open up a 4 point gap  for that important 11th place!

After seeing the ManU incident for the first time it was a shocking decision in the end. The linesman was right and the ref was wrong. The linesman actually just caves in. You can actually see him say what about the handball and Clattenberg says forget it.

The statement from the refs spokesman where he says he was trying to keep the play flowing in the spirit of the game was toss. And I suspect Ferdinand was reminding them they won't get their bonus if they don't give it. As I mentioned when the ref decided not to give Neville a second yellow last week, it's not just Rooney who has signed a new bumper contract with Fergie, the officials have as well. The only plus point of the affair was it was against Spurs.

You can't just let players decide when a freekick is going to be given. Whether the ref saw it or not, a freekick wasn't given, no whistle was blown but Gomez decided to take it anyway. His stupidity is to blame, Nani was entitled to take a penalty as much as Gomez was a freekick.

It certainly looked like he was about to blow and decided the ball was in the keepers hands and plays advantage. What advantage was there?

As soon as a player is in possession of the ball and is free to continue play however he likes is gaining the advantage given. (I think that's how refs see it)

He could have sent Spurs on a quick counter attack, seeing as they were one-nil down and there were 5 minutes left you'd think he'd be grateful for that.

Why did he not book Nani for deliberate hand ball and why was Rio allowed to debate the decision and finally that would  have happened if Van Der Saar had done the same and Lennon say scored. I think we all know the answer to that dont we

If that is the case, why has play been called back several seconds later after fouls in other matches? I've seen play called back after the ball has been lost two or three passes after a tackle or incident.

That's how it works. When Nani scores, the linesman puts his flag up to indicate to the referee that an infringement has happened to ensure that the referee has seen it. The referee confirms that he has seen it and made his decision (whether rightly or wrongly).

None of Nani, Clattenburg or Gomes are completely absolved of blame, but the linesman did his job exactly as he should have done.

Has anyone seen Clattenberg give the play on signal (two arms in the air forward)? I think I saw him shrug. No wonder Gomes was confused.

No, but did anyone see or hear him blow his whistle either to stop play either?
