I thought it was interesting that he felt compelled to point out this week, that his contract would have to be paid up in full if he is asked to leave by the new owners.

You'd want out if you were in that situation, wouldn't you? I know I would.TBH any manager in situ when new owners come in will be in danger. But when he was first appointed I did mention he has a reasonably poor record with top teams with serious expectations in this country. So hopefully they will keep him on.
