Citeh announced that as a 47k sell out.

Can they get away with outright lying? There were thousands of empty seats.

I was impressed with City’s energy and tenacity. They were first to everything and quicker all over the park all game. It was a very decent performance and sadly miles ahead of us, especially in comparison with yesterday.

Maybe we’ll now have Liverpool to fight it out with us down in the mid-table as fellow flotsam?

Despite the efforts of Mr Lerner I honestly think this is the final straw for me. It's just happened far too many times now, this stings beyond belief.

I'm sure a lot of people think I'm being a bit of a drama queen but somebody else mentioned Yorke. That's Yorke, Barry and Milner. ARGUABLY the three best players for Villa since the formation of the Premier League. What's the point if we can't compete anymore???

YOu say that but at the end of the day it's business.

Two of those players came in for pretty much next to nothing and we sold them on for handsome profit. Milner was bought for £12m and three years later we sold him for £24m.

Look at other teams, even in recent seasons sell good players.

Spurs - Carrick, Berbatov, Keane, Defoe.

Man Utd - Ronaldo, Ince, Kanchelskis, Beckham before.

Arsenal - Anelka, err others.

Liverpool - Owen.

I think what's with the Villa is at times they haven't invested the significant cash obtained from the deals / thrown at them, correctly. Think Watson, Stone, Ginola, Balaban, Collymore, Thompson...

If we'd had a bit of nous about us in the early to mid years of the nineties then we'd be a formidable team now with a good Champions League pedigree.

City looked good tonight, but then again Liverpool were about as hopeless as we were yesterday.

My highlight of the game was when they showed Balotelli in the stand - did you see the chick he was with?! Oooh baby!

You're right but Milner was here for just under two years (not counting the earlier loan spell).

I listened to the game on 5live and it surprised me that Robbie Savage has found something that he is worse at than football.

That's unfair.  You could have put Messi in our team on Sunday and he would have looked like Ricky Otto.  Minus the dreds of course.

They are going to win the league according to Gobby. If they are in with a shout in January they will just go out and buy several more world class players. Correct me if I'm wrong but how many World class players have they actually bought. Tevez is one I will count.

Yaya Toure was probably one of the best defensive midfielders when at Barcalona, he could be a maybe.

Thing is how many world class players actually ply there trade in the premiership? It’s a description that gets banded about too much by the pundits. I think they have got a lot of able players that on paper should do very well in our league.

I'd say a team made up of Gobbie Cabbages, Vinnie Jones', Joey Bartons, etc would beat Man City.
Naturally, they'd likely only play a dozen games per season before being suspended/jailed but it'd be entertaining.

Agree totally. I think the World Cup showed there are very few world class players around across the board, never mind just in the Premiership where over hyping players and games is the order of the day. Milner is way off what I would call 'world class' at the moment. Man City can have all the money in the world but the very few truly outstanding players will always go to the Real Madrids, Barcelonas and Man Utds of this world because of the tradition and the big support they attract. City will struggle to cross that divide as, I think, Chelsea have to some degree thought they started from a higher level and have the 'London factor' to attract players...
