I just dont see based on the current managers spending ability and the fact that Randy is cutting back (without us offloading wages etc first) how we can even compete to the same level we have been at. Based on everything in the market, we need at least 3 quality 1st team players to even have a hope of getting 6th place! Its looking more and more like a decent cup run is the best we can expect!? how depressing is that! Think im going to switch off until August 14th and see whats what then, cause all this is doing my head in. Can anyone really see MON making an 'exciting' signing? just uk based bore meisters. I really think we have come as far as we can unless we have a new outlook

I have some questions:

1)What has MON's net spend been in each of his transfer windows at Villa?

2)Which players moved during that time that Villa could have afforded to buy using that transfer cash and would have realistically joined us?

3)Would they have immediately improved the team/squad?

Sorry I haven't offered up a summary myself, but I feel that if you look at the bigger picture in this way we might be a little less negative.

I must admit, I'm not all that delighted to be hearing firstly about that twat Milner wanting out and then the first player MON talks about is McGeady.

No, I dont care much for that at all.
If he spunks the Milner money up the wall on average players he's going to make a powerful enemy.

Why the surprise?
Many of us have been warning about this for some time.

O’Neill went on to share the view that Irish winger Aiden McGeady could perform well in the Premiership.

“Aiden McGeady, I think he has got the ability to be able to play in the Premiership – without question. I had him when he was a kid at Celtic. I played him without worrying too much about his youth at the time. He played against AC Milan one night at Celtic Park in the Champions League and he was absolutely fantastic.”

A 0-0 draw if I recall correctly, nearly 6 years ago. McGready will be the fifth Celtic player from that team to join us, should he sign.

I have no confidence in MON spending the Milner proceeds wisely.

I suspect like me, Mark, you've seen very little of McGeady on which to base an opinion. I also suspect the reason MON is talking about him today is that he's in Ireland and it's who the local press are asking about.

I've seen him on at least 6 occasions for Celtic
Sub standard in every game, or maybe that was just a fluke?
I'm worried when MON mentions a good game he had against AC Milan 6 years ago.
I think he's interested in him too, no smoke without fire and all that.

SSN have just interviewed Danny Wilson about signing for Liverpool.
Asked what he thought of the club he said

"Everything is wonderful, being here is heavenly."

I've never seen much from him either but I've heard a lot of people talk very highly of him so suspect that he's a better player than the few times I've half watched a Celtic game would indicate. A bit like Collins last year, who I had no clue about before he signed, if he comes I'll wait to make up my own mind.

I thought Mcgeady looked okay against Arsenal in the Champions league last year. But do we need another winger? Young and Downing will do, we need a creative midfielder who is going to unlock defences with sublime passes for Gabby and Co to run onto. Someone mentioned earlier about Hleb against us a couple of seasons ago, he was awesome that day. Gutted. Also wish we had showed some intent and tried to match Liverpool for Cole. We need some star names  to attract others.
