For all we know Spurs are in the same boat as us - maybe they're not signing because they too have a lack of funds. So they're after a good deal for Keane or Bentley to sign players themselves, but it's reached an impasse because neither of the two clubs (if the reports are true about Villa's interest) are prepared to budge.

The press talk is that they want to sell Keane in order to buy Bellamy.
Spurs have champions league cash and I heard bellamy was going for £5m , huntelaar was what I heard spurs were trying to do.

No they haven't.

Knowing that Spurs run a relatively tight financial ship, I doubt Levy would let Harry spend money which might not actually come in.

They could get knocked out at the first hurdle.

I can't decide whether I want that to happen or not. Obviously, I don't want Spurs to get within a million miles of glory, but then again it might just stretch their squad if they're embroiled in a proper CL campaign.

yeah the FXProx money should loosen the belts somewhat you'd hope. I just think he's probably unlikely to agree say 10m and 50k a week for Keane if he's only got a budget of 15m and hasn't got a buyer for any of the reserves/Milner yet. Otherwise he could theoretically be stuck with 5m to buy any other players

There should be plenty of takers for the players who are likely to be available. They may not be good enough for us any more but there are plenty of clubs in the PL who would consider them good signings.

Jol has said he's staying at Ajax so that leaves sidders in limbo As well.

He's staying but not through choice it seems.

Fulham Statement:

Quote
On Thursday morning, following talks with Ajax, the Club can confirm that it has ceased negotiations for the release of Martin Jol from his contract with the Dutch Club.

Although Fulham had agreed personal terms with Martin Jol, Ajax were not willing to allow him to leave under any circumstances, and have held him to the terms of the contract he signed last summer.

When Fulham commenced negotiations with Martin Jol, the Club was informed that an exit clause existed in his contract with Ajax. Subsequent negotiations revealed that the clause was no longer valid and Ajax position remained steadfast in their desire to keep their manager, therefore dialogue between the two clubs has now ended.

Isn't that tapping up?

If they spoke to him without Ajax's permission it most certainly is.

Milner , ballotelli and donovan are are players he'd like to get in , I suppose that could be classed as tapping up as he said it in person.

Looks like our gareth might just be getting the odd carling cup game next season , he won't even make the subs bench.

Indeed

Do you think they want Milner to hand in a transfer request?

there should be, but its the wages again. Even if they take a pay cut, a lot of clubs who would want them will struggle to pay them. Likewise, if you're in the last year of your contract, why take a paycut when in 12 months you can pocket much more on a free?

Davies would go to spurs if they bid, likewise sidwell to fulham even if it seems we're getting a pittance for him.. the rest i'm not so sure
