Some of the stuff on the Dunne thread.

Quote
I'd rather have had syphallis than Dunne.

Quote
to replace him we get a shite piss head who will probably miss as many games through suspenseion as he will actually play in. Fucking Triffic

Quote
The only team that had a worse defence in the top half of the table than us last season was Man City, so it stands to reason that we'd buy Dunne to replace Laursen. Another inspirational O'Neill signing.

This is one of yours from the same thread Greg.

Although inconsistent season to season, I'd say JPA.

I watched the 100 best premier league goals DVD the other night, and Angel's right footed flick when we hammered Wolves just showed how brilliant a player he was. If only he could have done it every season.

To be fair I wasn't very happy when we spent 12M on Milner and that turned out well.

I think we all wondered who Collins was.

If he was Collininho from abroad we'd have all known him well.

I knew of Collins, but only in the context of being a major player in two crap defences for club and country.

I was pleasantly surprised.

I remember being delighted afters heskeys winner at Pompey only to be told at work by a leicester fan "that's it now he's got his goal for the season".

More fool me for thinking he was joking!

I haven't got a link, I've just closed it. You were pretty positive, the same couldn't be said for Paulie and Risso though. ;)

I got it wrong with Dunne and Collins. So did lots of us.

That's not the point, though, as now we need to be finding players who are better than those two, and the rest of the squad in fact, if we're going to push on.

McGeady might turn out to be considerably better than Ashley Young, but would you put your money on it?

I haven't seen much of McGeady. But I was told A.Young was overpriced, Collins was rubbish and Dunne slow. So I'll wait to pass judgement if he signs.

Well said.  Whether we are happy with a signing or not, we should all give the player a chance and judge them on what they do in a Villa shirt.  Collins and Dunne are the rpime examples.

And yes, I know everyone said Harewood would be shit and he was, but does anyone else think he's better showings for us came after that goal at Anfield, after which the fans were well on his side?

I disagree. Collins, Dunne and Harewood were all Premier League players when they signed for us and as McGeady is coming from a league several rungs down the ladder, I don't believe it is a like-for-like comparison.
If McGeady is a target, it makes me worry for our future.

Agreed. its like entering Formula One and then buying a Kia as your race car.

Bollocks.

KIAs are quite good these days. McGeady is more of a Robin Reliant.

There are some absolute hum dingers on that thread. Goes to show you how wrong you can be when being so definitive on opinion based on limited information or knowledge.

Can't agree with this either. The KIA may be offering a 7-year warranty, but that is only to 150,000km - I'd have that racked up in a little over 4 years, so I don't think it would last the distance. I feel the same about McGeady.
The Skoda Octavia Ambiente, on the other hand is available in the same class and for the same money. It is a far superior model with considerably more to offer. Are there any Czech midfielders available out there?

If I was sad enough, I'd have a trawl through old posts for people who said that Heskey was going to be a good signing, or for any one of a number of O'Neill's overpriced, under-peforming mistakes.
