Cheers lads! Made the mistake of looking at the elevation for New York, last night J. A nice two mile hill to start with, bastards!

Supposed to be one of the toughest?

By far the toughest of the majors apparently, Berlin being the flattest and therefore easiest.

Best of luck tomorrow, Risso! My friend Phil did New York a couple of times, as well as Boston. Took up marathon running at 40 before passing away of bowel cancer in 2021 aged 53. He did a couple a year and one on each of the 7 continents (your next challenge ) but I don't recall him mentioning that New York was particularly.tough. The worst one for him was Casablanca which was a shambles. Very badly organised, he wasn't convinced it was the right distance, and he had to send his wife to get bottled water for him during it.

Thanks chaps! What can I say about it, as life experiences go it’s up there with the best things I’ve ever done. It’s like a festival weekend in NY, and the atmosphere is superb.

Ran the race with my daughter, who kept going for the entire 26.2 miles despite a lack of training. NY is not quite as tough as people have you believe, but Queensborough Bridge can get in the fucking bin, the bastard!

After three months of not running due to meniscus damage, this morning I did the slowest of slow jogs around my local parkrun.  Hopefully, onwards and upwards - but no marathons planned!

What was ur time?  I was over in 2012 to do the NY marathon
.  It was cancelled! I haven't made it back yet.

4:42:55. Not very quick, but after a couple of bad backs during training, I decided to not worry about the time and just make sure my daughter made it round, which she did. I'm going to try to do either London or Berlin next year. Going to try to bag a last minute charity place for London, and if not then Berlin should be easy enough with a tour package from the same people I did NY with. Because both of those are miles flatter than NY, and I'll be running by myself, going to aim for 3:45-3:50.
