Off to Fenway tonight for the first time to see the Sox play the Tigers, any recommendations on what to do in Bean Town UKRS?

USAV covered most things there.

I’d skip Cheers, unless you just want to take a photo outside.

Faneuil Hall area
Harbour area is nice now that the Big Dig is complete.

JFK Library / Museum

….and as much time around Fenway as you can

I hope that everyone is boycotting the absolute nonsense that is "FTX MLB Home Run Derby X" in London on 9th July

It's £33 for what is basically the Baseball equivalent of watching retired football players take penalties  ::)

If I had to have a baseball team to support it'd be the Tigers. Lived in Detroit, loved the old Tiger stadium, not so much the new one, but loads of good memories there (despite not understanding baseball at all!)

Glad you had a good trip to Fenway. It's a great place!

The old Tiger Stadium was great. Loved watching games from the upper deck behind home plate

The new one was falling apart (concrete steps crumbling) as soon as it opened in 2000. However, when I was there a few years later, it had improved

The new one, I spent quite a bit of time in from 2002 to 2003, and you're right, by that point it had improved.

I wish they hadn't moved from the old place. It was so atmospheric, and so many good times in and around Cork Town drinking underage!

A good article here about the last game at Tiger Stadium:

25 years ago today, I went to my first baseball game

11 July 1997 - Toronto Blue Jays @ Boston Red Sox, Fenway Park

I've now attended 289 Major League, 38 Minor League, 3 College and 1 Independent

The plan is to head back over in 2023 to add to this total.

Yep. After climbing back up to the heights of mediocrity, the Sox are shit again

At last, decades after it should have happened, today sees Buck O'Neil inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Shame that he's not alive to see the day, not that being overlooked bothered him.

Of all the baseball players, umpires and officials that I've met during my travels, being able to talk to Buck and shake his hand was the ultimate

https://baseballhall.org/hall-of-famers/oneil-buck

I've attended a few induction ceremonies and really wish I was there for this one, because David 'Big Papi' Ortiz is also being inducted.

Great comeback. Brilliant challenge by the coach to get that call overturned in the bottom of the 10th
