The Ricketts thing with Chelsea is interesting. What he's essentially done at Wrigley is spent a fortune on turning an old ballpark in a 'regular neighborhood' (not entirely unlike Villa Park) into an entertainment zone, buying out all the surrounding land and building hotels etc. I can only assume he has something similar in mind for Chelski

Wrigley was a dump when I visited the ballpark in the late 90s

At a press conference at the Hall of Fame after our "30 in 32" trip in 2000, I said that it was one of the worst ballparks. Cramped, dirty and falling apart.
This view did not go down well

However, in the past 20 years the work done on the ballpark has made games there a much better experience.

Obviously, I still think that Fenway is better, but I now like Wrigley

Yep, Ricketts Sr. has gone full 'Birther / Trumper' in recent years, but there's probably many other owners who are similar.

Best to just ignore ownership. One of his sons runs the team these days.
