Tom Glavine has announced his retirement.

This means that only John Smoltz is left from the great Atlanta Braves rotation of the '90's (and he currently is an unsigned Free Agent)

Frank "The Big Hurt" Thomas has also retired.

Both can start writing speeches for their Hall of Fame induction because they're certs for Cooperstown

Hey 'those in the know'.
I'm going to be in San Francisco in April for a few days - 3rd to the 8th and wondered if there is any baseball on to watch - would love to go to a  game but obviously only being there a few days limits what's available. Any suggestions?
Also any NFL type action to check out around the same time?
Thanks in advance...

The regular season starts in April

Oakland are playing at home 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th April.

You'll have no trouble getting a ticket to see them play.

Their ballpark is very easy to get to on the "BART" (ie light rail system). It has its own station.

On Sat 3rd April San Francisco are playing at Oakland in a pre-season game.

Good info, thanks. We don't have much of a plan as yet but it'll be great if we can fit a game in, I'll check that link out now...

Yanks get Chan Ho Park for 1.2  Which I consider a steal.

Damon goes to the Tigers, which he now claims was his first choice all along 5 years ago.

I still love Johnny, but c'mon maaaannnn

should be a cool game to check out.  Interleague play, on a sunday, noon start.

You may be able to get these tickets pretty cheap on stubhub.com from some season ticket holders.

Remember that's a pre-season "Spring Training" warm up game, so some (if not most) of the main players may be missing. However, it should be a great opportunity to see one of the best ballparks at a cheap price.

Hopefully you'll get to see one of my new favorite players, Pablo "Kung Fu Panda" Sandoval

Proof once again that baseball is the game for us fat buggers

so, myself and about 15 friends are going to the Yankees game on April 16th (section 203 of course) and my one good friend, Khalid Washin-better not type it, is going to propose to his girlfriend on the screen in the 7th inning stretch!

Such a horribly great idea...

I can't wait.

(and yes, I plan on being one of the 50,000 people chanting "just say no! just say no!")
