But the Jets play at medowlands yes??

Yep, Jets and Giants both play in the Meadowlands, which of course isn't even in New York State, let alone New York City.

I'll probably regret asking but how do they work out the fixture list in NFL.  I know all the teams play I think 15 regular season games but with only 4 teams in each league how do they work out who plays who?

Hang on I've just realised there are 16 team in the AFC and NFC so you play each team in your conference once, I'd assume home and away on each alternate season?

That'll be a resounding "No"

Each conference is split into 4 divisions of 4 teams.

The schedule's then worked out as follows ......

Quote
   * Each team plays the other three teams in their division twice: once at home, and once on the road (six games).
    * Each team plays the four teams from another division within its own conference once on a rotating three-year cycle: two at home, and two on the road (four games).
    * Each team plays the four teams from a division in the other conference once on a rotating four-year cycle: two at home, and two on the road (four games).
    * Each team plays once against the other teams in its conference that finished in the same place in their own divisions as themselves, not counting the division they were already scheduled to play: one at home, one on the road (two games).

You didn't really think that the Colonials would make it simple, did you ?

No I didn't.... :smt002 but I do understand it.

The thing thats really noticeable is that you might have to wait up to 4 years to avenge bad defeats against some teams!!

So I assume the Browns are doing OK as this years fixture list has maybe been kinder than previous years?  Or is that not it?  Surely some Divisions are seen as being stronger than others i.e a constant Group of Death and that may make your regular season schedule easier.

All I know is that Tom Brady is winning for me every week and I'm top in the Fantasy League because of it.

That is true, but the Browns are improving because they're developing a better team.

Change in the NFL generally takes time, not least because of the huge amount of planning and organisation top level gridiron requires in terms of play patterns, tactics and gleaning the players for the job whilst staying inside the salary cap and working with the draft system.

Its not too bad in the NFL but its definitely the case in Major League Baseball.

The "American League East" consists of.....

Boston Red Sox
New York Yankees (boo, hiss !!)
Toronto Blue Jays
Baltimore Orioles
Tampa Bay Devils Rays

Only, the winners of each of the three divisions plus the best runner up go thro' to the payoffs.

Boston and New York have the most income and therefore the highest payrolls in the sport.

This means that Toronto, Baltimore and especially Tampa Bay have basically no chance.

Quite possibly the worst game ever played last night.....Pittsburgh Steelers vs Miami Dolphins, final sore: 3-0.   Steelers won it with a field goal in the last 30 seconds.  Utter, utter crap - just like the weather here yesterday.

I watched a bit of that!! The pitch was in such a terrible state, a bit like the Miami Dolphins. I still think the Steelers may stop the Pats bandwagon when they meet.

Packers/Cowboys on Thursday. We get it here on Sky but I've heard alot of people won't get to see it over there. Is NFL Network a bit like Setanta Sports over here in that you have to pay on top of existing cable coverage to receive it?
