I guess it was one of those calls. If it had come off, it would have been heralded as an amazingly thought out play. Still, it wasn't and he's viewed as a numpty by the world.

I bet Marshawn Lynch is fucking livid. Just as well the Fantasy season is over, I had him in my team.

It must be catching. First Green Bay fuck up at the end of the game, now the Seahawks. The Chelsea of the NFL fluke a Superbowl that shouldn't have had.

No, it wasn't "one of those calls".  I think for once the arrogance of the Patriots was outdone by another team.   You have the ball on the 1/2 yard line, with the best short distance running back in the league and you throw it?  On second down?   Not only the worst call ever, but a completely stupid idiotic, bird-brained decision.   If I was a Seahawks fan I would be furious.

I was going to ask which down they were on. Second down? That's got to be a 10 on the Lambertometer of crazy decisions.

....and then the Seahawks go offside. Everyone knew that Brady was going to sneak and the Seahawks had a chance to keep him in the endzone for a Safety. Two points down and with good field position coming up after the free kick and they were still in the game.

One thing that I didn't hear Al and Cris mention was that the intercepting player (Butler ?) should just have gone to ground in the endzone rather than trying to run out. Heat of the moment and all that but I'd be surprised if what to do in those circumstancs hadn't been drilled into the Pats players

I know that Brady had to be MVP but (completion record aside) he wasn't up to his normal standards. Some very wobbly passes, including the final TD

Edelman should have been MVP. Too easy to give it to the winning QB

It was a stupid decision and Carroll who is an excellent coach was invaded by Paul Lambert at that very moment. To make things worse his explanation of it was a combination of the very worst of Lambert. Ludicrous doesn't come close to it.

Of course, but my point is that if it had come off, it would have been lauded as an incredibly brave play that won the Superbowl. Arrogant etc, of course, but then we are talking about the NFL.

It was a great play to intercept, the receiver was open for a moment, it just didn't work.

If it had been the Patriots on the half yard line, Billy B would have called for a screen pass to a 300lb eligible lineman.

Totally agree.   Some people over here are calling it the worst play call ever in the super bowl, I'm calling it the worst decision in any sport ever. period. full stop.

If they had a poor running game, like the Colts then it may have been excusable. But there's no running-back you'd rather have in that situation than Lynch. Bizarre decision.

It was a great Superbowl though, even though the baddies won.

Edelman should have been MVP, Brady didn't have a particularly great game.

He caught it on the line with his momentum taking him out. Doubt he knew exactly where both his feet had landed, and it would have been a safety if he'd ducked back in. Best to just dive forwards.

I agree about the fouls though, unbelievable indiscipline from the Seahawks. I was saying to my wife that we hadn't won yet, and Brady needed the QB sneak of his life.
