Because as with Rugby, Gaelic and Aussie rules, you are playing the game without a horse.

I'd never thought of it like that before, ie that the name could be because you play the game "on" your feet, rather than "with" your feet.

I don't mind the Ravens. Would've preferred to see the Niners win as I generally back the NFC team in the Superbowl but either would've been deserving champions. Mainly pleased that it was a thrilling game as it looked as good as over till... well, when you went to bed Lou!

After some mature reflection with a glass of sauvignon blanc I have to agree that a closer game was probably more exciting than the rout it was turning out to be.

The 49ers.  What a romantic name.  Don't actually have a team I follow but I just choose a side on the Superbowl. My favourite player was the big guy on the Ravens with major facepaint.

That's probably Ray Lewis? Wore the number 52 shirt and that was his last game before retirement.

Anyway, the Chicago Bears are the best team to support....

I suspect that was Ray Lewis. Read up about him, you might change your mind on that one.

I'm sure I've read that somewhere. Not sure how true it is though. Although it is generally accepted that Football is a medieval word and there was definitely not much kicking involved in it, especially if you see that recreation that happens in those villages every year.

Looked him up. Yes it was him.  What a fount of inspiration, though, he's better than Cantona and his seagulls.

'Are you pissed off for greatness' and going for the next pedal will stay with me I think.

Just read the story of the murder trial though and it seems that he is supposed to know more about the incident than he has ever said in interviews or in court. Appears to have been rehabilitated since then, however, ending his career on a positive note.

Caught a ticker on Fox last night about one of the 49ers family being killed in a car crash after the Super Bowl, can't see anything about who it was?

I've been meaning to post this for a while.

JaDeveon Clowney is possibly the best player in College Football but the NFL regulations (which are clearly "restraint of trade") prevent him from turning pro.

He's old enough to serve in the military but the NFL deem that he's not allowed to play in their league.

Americans are like that. Often putting an unnecessary Ja, Le, L' or T' i front of first names. As if it wasn't bad enough that the kid's surname is "Clowney"

Yep, Tebow pissed me off even more than normal, so I decided his latest nuttiness deserved to be double-threaded
