I feel sorry for JoePa in all of this.   I'm sure he wishes he could have done more and will probably regret it the rest of his life - which may be considerably shorter now than it would have been.

I do agree with the decision to clean shop, I think they had to do that, however, they should have let him coach the last game of the season.

The ONLY people who deserve any sort of sympathy in this are the victims of Jerry Sandusky's sickening acts.

From the horrific ordeals he put them through, to the despicable lack of support / orchestrated cover up from Paterno, Curley, Schultz etc etc, this is truly disgusting.

Paterno should have quit immediately.

It appears that he was too stubborn/oblivious to do so and thus had to be fired.

My impression is that Paterno was all powerful Penn State and thus, if he'd have wanted a proper investigation when he was told about the abuse, there would have been one.

Even if its accepted that just passing the details up the chain of command** was the right thing to do, he should still have followed up by asking what had been done and what the outcome was.

(** although, in reality both the AD and President of Penn State were way below Paterno in the pecking order of influence)

Go Devon, Hopefully we can keep this going but 20-0 up at the start of the second quarter including a Devon special from 82yds.

Yay, and now Cutler doing what he does best, QB Fumble recovered by Detroit on our 15.

Not bad considering he's injured.

Nice win with only one TD coming from normal offense. We also intercepted them twice in the red zone so that was good and reduced them to one TD late on a 4th down. Should put us 2nd now.

Lions are still ahead of us on divisional record but pleased with the Bears again today. Maybe we'll be the third Wembley winners to win the Superbowl. Or maybe not.

Packers really awesome tonight.

Rodgers and his offense are unplayable currently.  Add to that a defense that showed real signs of huge improvement.

Can't see anyone beating them, unless they have a massive off day.

The Packers do look good, but they have a piss-easy schedule, not least of all within their division.

They have to go to the Giants yet and play the Raiders - I can see them losing one of those.

Eh hem, what do you mean by an easy schedule in their division?!?! The NFC North is probably the toughest in the NFC, with only the NFC South rivalling it. The East doesn't look that strong this year (it usually is to be fair). Can see the Cowboys perhaps winning the division, as they have a nice schedule.

Exactly what I say.

Vikings = complete rubbish
Bears = inconsistent.
Detroit = complete tosh (don't let the first few games fool you)

You need to look outside of the NFC.    Three out of 5 of the best defeneces in the country are in the AFC North.

A Quarter-Back who can't throw the ball, how long before he signs for Da Bears? :-)

I don't mind Yankee football but am green with it. Is Jay can't throw Cutler not considered great any more?

BCS in chaos.....................

I always root for chaos in the BCS. Anything to hasten the arrival of a proper playoff system.
