Quick question.

Those who have tickets for this Wembley thing, were any of you against the '39th game'?
And if you were, what's the difference?

Its not an "extra" game.

Really enjoyable game between the Packers and Bears last night.

Packers look the team to beat again.  Rodgers is awesome and has so many weapons.  The defense is only going to improve as the season progresses.

They are a joy to watch nowadays.  Long may it continue.

But it's still a game franchised out to another country for monetary reasons.

But they are not fundamentally changing the total structure of the game and rules to allow it to happen and it is no different for the majority of the fans if their team happens to be from New York but are playing in LA.

As far as I'm aware, the vast majority of the objections for the 39th Game are that it is an extra game and the drawers are random so if Chelsea and Manure are battling fot the title, one could get drawn against a relegation fodder side and the other could be drawn against someone at a similar level so the league result could be skewed. I thought most fans would accept it more if it was one of the 38 although obviously away/home fans would be affected.

Next you'll be saying we shouldn't be against MK Dons because NFL teams change cities and names to get bigger fanbases.

Comparing the NFL to football/soccer in England is apple & oranges.

The way that the sports are organised is totally different.

Some of the ways that the NFL is allowed to operate would be illegal over here.

Things like the draft, salary caps etc are positively communist.

The Eagles 'performance' last night was probably the worst I've witnessed in the Andy Reid era - and that's saying something. And now with Vick breaking his hand we'll have to see more of that idiot Kafka - he's got the right name alright, I felt like I was caught up in a surreal nightmare watching him!

There is no British professional American football league... if football fans in Hong Kong, USA or Australia want to watch a professional "soccer" game they can do so in their own leagues.

Also, there is a fairly even spread of NFL fans of different teams in Britain. Some teams, like Bears, Dolphins, Raiders, Steelers have more fans in the UK than most... but it's nowhere near like, say, the Hong Kong Cup where if you're not a Sky Four (Six?) team you don't exist.

Plus I'm quite happy that Bears are losing a Florida game and gaining an extra game somewhere cold and wet... that's how we like it! If we were losing a home game I'd not be so strongly in favour. I'd still go though...

It turns out that Vick's hand is just "badly bruised".

I've been to a few amateur games in the UK. The Cotswold Bears were pretty entertaining around 1986/87 and used to get decent crowds when they played at local rugby clubs.

However, when they folded, the next club that was formed, Severn Valley Royals weren't very good. I walked out at half time of the last game I watched of their's in 1993.

I haven't been to a domestic game since then

Annoyingly a lot of the merchandise in the catalogue doesn't seem to be available online. It seems you have to buy it at Wembley. I wanted to wear it on the way to the game and not have to carry £100 around with me either!

Apparently the NFL are having difficulty in shifting tickets for the Wembley game.

Yep, Ticketmaster were on the phone to me yesterday asking if I wanted any more tickets.
