We've been following the Lovie Smith hot seat scenario in Chicago, and as of yesterday, there was a report from radio host Hub Arkush -- also the publisher of Pro Football Weekly -- that the Bears were looking at options to replace both Smith and GM Jerry Angelo.

Asked to comment, two of the Bears players were angered about the report. "If it was information that we were all privy to and it was true, we'd have to deal with it. But when it's just speculation, it kind of leads you to believe that certain people have certain agendas," tight end Desmond Clark said. Conspiracy? Maybe ...

"I probably don't believe that's true. If it is, it means that somebody is giving up. And we haven't given up," Adewale Ogunleye said, but added, "the league is fueled by [speculation]. All we can do is put the blinders on and go out there and just play football."

Interestingly, neither player was effusive with praise for Lovie. But there could be a schism developing in the organization on his future.
