Surely that's it for Zorn at the Skins. I think that's four winless teams that they've lost to

Where's our resident Yankee-loving Eagles fan ?

http://scores.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=291018013

Losing to the Raiders, how bad is that ?!?

Meanwhile, Zorn's had the play-calling responsibilities taken of him.

"Paging John Gruden......... John Gruden to D.C. please"

Looks like next week @ Wembley could be a bit one sided

Titans 0 - Patriots 59

The Brady Bunch's London opponents, the Bucs, are still without a win

I miss my first Eagles game in 8 years and look what happens!!

I actually planned my wedding for the eagles Bye week a few years back, so I wouldn't miss a live game (yeah... my lucky wife).

I got off the plane from Iceland, and I assumed they won...

I was wrong.

In a weird way, I am not THAT mad about it though.  I have a friend who is an Eagles fan, and for the last month he has been TORMENTING another friend of ours about how bad the Raiders are.  He has been really bad about it too.  It is actually getting a little annying.

So in a weird way, if we had to lose to the Raiders, this is the only way I would want it to happen.

The Browns are truly an awful football team.   The Steelers gifted them three turnovers in a row yesterday and they gave us two back and then went three and out.

Pathetic.

I still won't call the Browns the Browns.

The Browns are the Baltimore Ravens.

It would be like if you had a kid named Mike, and that kid ran away from home.

So you had another kid a few years later, and you named him Mike as well.

and you dressed him the same, and you tried to make everyone think it was the same kid.

No one would buy it.

They would actually think you were crazy.

Forgive my lack of knowledge of our US brethren, but how is this so?

Well it's quite simple.

The Cleveland Browns owner went to move his team to Baltimore, but I think was persuaded out of it after a short while??

The New York Titans are now the New York Jets.
The Baltimore Colts are the Indianapolis Colts.
The Chicago Cardinals became the St. Louis Cardinals and then the Arizona Cardinals.
The Decatur Staleys became the Chicago Staleys and then the Chicago Bears.
The Los Angeles Rams are the St. Louis Rams.
The Oakland Raiders became the Los Angeles Raiders and then back to the Oakland Raiders again.

What's not to understand? :-D

It's a bit like Wimbledon becoming the MK Dons.

The Baltimore Ravens ARE the original Cleveland Browns.

As part of the deal allowing the Browns owner to move his team to Baltimore he agreed to leave the team's name and history for if/when the NFL placed an expansion team in Cleveland.

Al Davis did not have to do this when he moved the Raiders because, well ... Al Davis does whatever the feck he wants and no one can stop him (not even the all powerful and ultra-controlling NFL)

Other team moves / renamings

Portsmouth Spartans became the Detroit Lions

Dallas Texans became the Kansas City Chiefs

Houston Oilers became the Tennessee Oilers and then the Tennessee Titans

Boston Braves** became the Boston Redskins and then the Washington Redskins

The Pittsburgh Steelers were originally known by the same name as the city's baseball team, ie the Pirates**

A more minor change saw the Boston Patriots became the New England Patriots

Also, the Rams were actually in Cleveland before they moved to LA and then St Louis

This is just the current NFL teams. There were some great names in the past inc. Canton Bulldogs, Dayton Triangles, Pottsville Maroons and my favourite, Providence Steamroller.

(** continuing the baseball link, there were also football teams called the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Yankees)

How did Green Bay survive when all of the other small town teams disappeared? (You'd think they'd have moved to Milwaukee).

I was chatting to a guy from Detroit who now lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. I said to him that at least the Panthers have had a decent team fairly recently and he pointed out that they haven't won a game this year which is worse than the Lions!

The Packers used to play a game each season in Milwaukee

Revenue sharing and the salary cap in the NFL means that a small town like Green Bay can survive.

Its strange that in the hotbed of capitalism there's something like the NFL which is almost communist-like in its structure

To sum it up without throwing all these names in the mix, Cleveland as a city owned the name "Cleveland Browns" so when the owner moved them (keep in mind, he moved them because he was a prick, and not because they couldn't sell tickets), he just changed the name.

So the current Browns are just the second go at a team.

The Browns have always had a great fan base, which makes it even worse that shortly after they moved and vhanged their name, the new team, the BALTIMORE RAVENS won a superbowl!  So that could have been a BROWNS superbowl!

The funniest part to me is: Who the hell moves a team from Cleveland to Baltimore?

It's like they couldn't just be in one TERRIBLE city, they needed to be in TWO!!
