Still no Moreno on the bench. We'll never see him again.

Also not a terribly impressive looking bench. JJ aside.

I just worry that we'll struggle to play out of our half with this set-up, I really do.

I love these type of comments as they're invariably followed by a thumping 3-0 home win. :)

Not when you do that to follow up you shiftless hubristic monster! Now the gods are going to shit all over us and they'll just say, like Athena said to Arachne, 'now look what you made me do'.

First goalscorer Hinshelwood (who?)

From the BBC

"The 18-year-old midfielder comes from a long line of footballers, including his dad Adam, who made 100 league appearances for the club during the Withdean era, before turning to coaching and management.

Jack’s great grandfather Wally played for Fulham, Chelsea, Reading and Bristol City. Wally’s sons Paul and Martin both played for Crystal Palace, with Martin going on to coach and manage the Albion.

Martin’s son Danny, who is Jack’s uncle, also played for Albion and Portsmouth."

Options limited for sure but Zaniolo completely unbalances the team. Be interesting to see if McGinn is back in his best position on the right.

Diaby has caused so many problems on the break and already has an assist but bizarrely is the player going forward that's actually had a bit of mare. Mis-timing everything - even the third goal he should've buried. Not complaining though!

That's not why it was given, they gave it as Pedros standing foot was marginally closer to the goal than Fati so the pass was played 'backwards'. I don't agree with that but that's clearly why they didn't disallow it.

There was a Villa player behind the goal line hidden by the goal.

But if he's off the pitch then he is disregarded isn' he? Or did that change when I wasn't looking?

No, he's assumed to be level with the perimeter if the pitch.

Otherwise you'd just have players running behind the goal to play people offside.

If that were true why did they take so long looking at it and draw a line from Pedro's back foot?

Let’s face it. We’ve had worse days than this.

Excellent performance. Slight concern over the injuries, but hopefully they’re not major and will be all good come Thursday.

We’re back. And we’re dominating

I just wish the commentators would stop saying teams are “flat” when they come to Villa. The reason they’re flat is because we stifle them beautifully. It’s not that they’re playing badly, we’re just not letting them play how they want to.

Don't mind Brighton as a team.  Actually quite like watching them - especially today.

But the fawning that goes on from dafties like this one on TNT sounds like someone reading off a script. No independent thinking.  They've planned all week to reel this guff off. So they aren't going to let a little thing like the actual match or result get in the way.
