3.30 pm ok Sox ?
-
Fine.
Unless, of course, its Legion allowing use of the thread at that point that's been having the Anti-Orange Dot effect that's lead to him resigning from Match-Thread starting
-
We are in safe hands with the lanzarote lion in control :)

Unchanged Villa team today.
-
Guzan, Bacuna, Vlaar, Baker, Bertrand, Westwood, Delph, El Ahmadi, Weimann, Benteke, Agbonlahor

Unchanged Villa team today.
Kea and Westwood at home just doesn't work for me - not enough creativity.
-
Guzan, Bacuna, Vlaar, Baker, Bertrand, Westwood, Delph, El Ahmadi, Weimann, Benteke, Agbonlahor
No Albrighton. No width.
Got to say, the most meh I have been to a team selection all season. Lowton and Bacuna down the right, Albrighton down the left with 2 up top? Nope. Gabby wide? Nope.
Shapeless, and no doubt clueless.
Ram it down my throat Villa, I dare you.
-
Norwich: Ruddy; Martin, Yobo, Bassong (c), Olsson; Tettey, Johnson; Snodgrass, Hoolahan, Redmond; Hooper.
-
Ruddy; Martin, Yobo, Bassong (c), Olsson; Tettey, Johnson; Snodgrass, Hoolahan, Redmond; Hooper
Got to say there looks like they are very attack minded through midfield, and will use the width. Bacuna and Bertrand in for a long afternoon.
-
Marc still on the bench.
subs: Steer, Sylla, Holt, Clark, Albrighton, Bennett, Robinson
-
I'd have Clark over Baker and I would try something a bit more adventurous in midfield.
Ah well, UTV!
-
Absolutely shit subs bench aswell that is.
-
Marc still on the bench.
subs: Steer, Sylla, Holt, Clark, Albrighton, Bennett, Robinson
Who's Robinson I'm guessing a youth player what position does he play
-
Hoolahan starts - what odds on him scoring an own goal :)
-
Despite sounding negative, what a boring lineup. KEA...at home, what can you say? Lambert is dreary. Prove me wrong, Villa
-
El Ahmadi first name on the team sheet again?
-
Just win please Villa.
-
Marc still on the bench.
subs: Steer, Sylla, Holt, Clark, Albrighton, Bennett, Robinson
Who's Robinson I'm guessing a youth player what position does he play
Callum Robinson, our U12 striker. Sounds very promising.

Thanks. Got to be better than Bowery anyway even if he is 11. Haha
-
Poor old Marc must be wondering just what does he have to do.
-
Norwich have lost the last 3 away. So as per usual....Welcome to the rehab centre more commonly known as Villa Park.
Sorry but that starting 11 is dreadful.
-
El Ahmadi first name on the team sheet again?
I can't bear him.
-
The team is about as exciting as a shopping trip to West Bromwich on a wet Wednesday.

Do or die today. Hopefully 3 pts and a convincing performance. Defeat and Lamberts head Monday morning please.
-
Ricky van Wolfswinkel failed a fitness test so Norwich are only left with Gary Hooper to play up front. Only problem is, we tend to put eleven plays behind the ball when opposition teams don't have their recognised striker.
For once in your life, Lambert, get it right.
-
Didn't realise so many teams below us have games in hand! Palace, WBA and Sunderland.
Absolutely massive game for us today.
-
No Helenius on our bench?
Will Lambert have the balls to pull Benteke off the pitch if he's as listless as last Sunday?
Hoolahan in for Narrich? - interesting dynamic there.
I think he's mad not to play the Bacuna / Lowton duo down our right.
Not positive about this at all.
-
Shitting myself here.
Must win.
-
It's the kind of selection that makes you think Lambert is praying "Please don't lose, please don't lose."
Although having said that apart from Albrighton I'm not sure what other changes are feasible. Maybe Holt: surely if he's ever going to get a game it should be this one.
-
Same old, same old. Expect sadness.
-
Looks like a return of 4-3-3, all is not lost.
I suspect that no matter how well he plays, Albrighton will only play in flat 4-4-2. I'd have him here in place of Weimann with a brief to make sure he gets back to cover Lowton in place of Bacuna. If we had a viable alternative to el Ahmadi, I'd have him in the team too. It should be Johnson or Carruthers.
-
Shitting myself here.
Must win.
We're so crap and predictable I'm expecting a wonderful performance and a comfortable win. Probability says we can't be shit forever.
-
First start in 2 months for Hoolahan. Necessity or pettiness?
-
3 out of form forwards, in front of a static and very unimaginative midfield. With a midfielder at right back and Nathan Baker in the back 4. Fuck a duck. Hoolahan to run the game, and us to lose. 2-1 Norwich.
Could this be Lambert's Bolton.
-
Shitting myself here.
Must win.
We're so crap and predictable I'm expecting a wonderful performance and a comfortable win. Probability says we can't be shit forever.
I have a bad feeling about this one. Worse than usual before home matches. I hate this poking around the arse end of the table thing.
-
With Lambert in charge, it's best, if not absolutely bloody essential, to assume the worst and then even 3 or 4 passes strung together comes as a nice surprise..
-
Didn't realise so many teams below us have games in hand! Palace, WBA and Sunderland.
Absolutely massive game for us today.
The time of looking for a good performance has gone, we just need points.

You would think we would be used to it by now but bloody hell we need something to change.
-
Marc still on the bench.
subs: Steer, Sylla, Holt, Clark, Albrighton, Bennett, Robinson
The other thing that spooks me is that this bench really doesn't offer any alternatives for when Plan A fails - other than Albrighton, who should be in the Plan A anyway.
My negativity is spilling over at the moment.
-
I'll help you put your finger on why we haven't got the results at home, Paul. Because we are not very good.
-

Don't worry, we're tenth, eleventh, twelfth, thirteenth, fourteenth.

Don't we all.

Jamie Carragher speaking sense
-
I was hoping we might ring some changes today, but we haven't.
-
Carragher talking sense
-
Get used it because it's our lot as long as Lerner, Lambert and Faulkner are around. That's if we're not relegated first of course which is an increasing possibility
-
Not watching yet, what did Carragher say?
-
Oh God, coming on here has not boosted my confidence any, that team selection is awful.
Play Albrighton, Play a Right Back, don't play Kea
-
I'll help you put your finger on why we haven't got the results at home, Paul. Because we are not very good.
Get used it because it's our lot as long as Lerner, Lambert and Faulkner are around. That's if we're not relegated first of course which is an increasing possibility
If we dont win this I wouldn't say we are as good as down but the fat lady will be tuning up. Free fall is a term that comes to mind...
-
Not watching yet, what did Carragher say?
Shouldn't be mooking around the bottom of the table, huge club, drifting
-
This is a team bred for one purpose. To destroy the world of entertainment.
-
The team is about as exciting as a shopping trip to West Bromwich on a wet Wednesday.
if it was a facebook comment, I would click, 'like'
I'd pinch it, post it as a status and pass it off as my own work.
-

I think they used to say the same about the Cleveland Browns, not that there's any connection of course...
-
Not watching yet, what did Carragher say?
Shouldn't be mooking around the bottom of the table, huge club, drifting
Thanks for that. He does seem to have a great respect for us and proper order given our history.
-
Snodgrass has declared himself not fit for Scotland midweek, but he's available today. How does that work?
-
Oh bloody hell, Pat Murphy is the R5 reporter at the game, trotting our awful stats with relish already...
-
Snodgrass has declared himself not fit for Scotland midweek, but he's available today. How does that work?
It could mean if Scotland pursued it he would be out for 3 games due to breaking the rules. Not on really
-
Narrich playing with two wingers - done their homework ...
-
Leandro Luna? ;D
-
Commentary on Talkshite if anyone is interested - I couldn't bring myself to go to the pub again to watch this after last week
-
Nice touch by Delph to let the mascot have his track suit top in the cold. We may be shite but we are classy shite.
-
Nice touch by Delph to let the mascot have his track suit top in the cold. We may be shite but we are classy shite.
The opposite of Chelsea as it were
And Norwich go one up and guess who scored...
-
Fuck me...
-
for fucks sake
-
All too fucking obvious. 3 fucking minutes.
-
*buries head in hands*
-
Sweet fucking Jesus.
-
That start. That is a bad start.
-
Ripped apart!!
No prizes for guessing the scorer.
FFS
-
Awesome stuff, you useless ******
-
And that would be why we wanted Hoolahan.
-
And so it fucking begins.
-
Don't worry Lambert is in charge, we are bound to pull this round, we just need to get our free flowing game going...
-
And so it begins...
-
There's the kind of goal we don't look capable of scoring
-
Embarrassing defence and midfield as usual.
-
Karma reaquainted with Aston Villa. That January window.
-
Game over. Season over. Over and out.
-
Well , that was easy
-
This is just taking the piss now
-
Fuck off.
-
Don't worry Lambert is in charge, we are bound to pull this round, we just need to get our free flowing game going...
Don't worry, there is always plan B. If that fails we can 'go again'
-
Donkey defending
-
I'm looking forward to Brighton away next season, I hope it's an early or late season game and the weather's good
-
Do we read anything into the somewhat muted celebration?
-
My free now tv subscription and I feel ripped off
-
We are going. There are not 3 worse than us at the moment. Wrong time of the season to be utter shit.
-
All that came from an unnecessary Guzan hoof.
-
Sack the bungling incompetent.
-
Karma reaquainted with Aston Villa. That January window.
We are unbelievable at times.
-
It will be hoof after hoof now, flick on after flick on. To nobody. Crap, Villa. Pull yourselves together
-
And so it begins...
Like a knife brought butter - shocking start but hardly a surprise.
-
Game over. Season over. Over and out.
What's the score?
-
Actually this is getting funny.
-
First attack and they score, we are shambolic at the back.
-
Hands up all those who was surprised by that and the goalscorer
-
Usually I'd be shouting at the TV but just worn down so much just expect the same old shit now
-
Do we read anything into the somewhat muted celebration?
Yea, he was embarrassed about how easy it was...
-
What a complete joke, Mr Lambert please pack your bags.
-
I wonder if this opening six minutes is helping Lambert 'put his finger on what's wrong'?
-
It will be hoof after hoof now, flick on after flick on. To nobody. Crap, Villa. Pull yourselves together
We're not even managing the flick on right now.
-
I see we're playing as crap as usual.
-
Boos starting already
-
It's all so predictable and oppo managers must love plotting our downfall
-
Why have we gambled Premier League Status and millions of revenue year on year to help us get the wages in line?
What happens when we are Championship and can't afford the likes of KEA, Westwood wages? Same again? Gamble that we can thread water a few seasons while wages are brought into line.
What we have done is insane. Football doesn't work like that and we are getting punished for failing to learn our lessons.
-
All over the place.
-
I wonder if this opening six minutes is helping Lambert 'put his finger on what's wrong'?
He like the owner is out of his depth and does not have a fucking clue...
-
fuck, Bacuna there. Simple pass? No, a hoof to nowhere. Keep it simple
-
I can't believe Albrighton is on the fucking bench.
Honestly, I sometimes think Lambert is *trying* to get us relegated
-
It's all so predictable and oppo managers must love plotting our downfall
To be fair, it doesn't take much plotting does it?
-
Starting as we left off last week at Newcastle....crap.
-
Baker is so fucking clumsy.
-
What a complete joke, Mr Lambert please pack your bags.
Dreadful start in a game we are meant to be well up for - lambert is a liability .
-
All together now, concentrate from the kick off.
-
I can't believe Albrighton is on the fucking bench.
Honestly, I sometimes think Lambert is *trying* to get us relegated
He's way too thick to do anything deliberately
-
The long ball to Benteke is such a waste of time and effort!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Baker is so fucking clumsy.
Vlaar and Clark looked ok too!? Why the fuck is he in the side the lumbering bag of spanners
-
I wonder if this opening six minutes is helping Lambert 'put his finger on what's wrong'?
He like the owner is out of his depth and does not have a fucking clue...
Well, I don't know about the owner, but I agree completely about the manager. I think he's shit.
-
I was going to wait till half time before I had a drink, I think the time is now.
What should I go for? An ice cold bottle of Magners or I have a bottle of Ardbeg, what do you think?
-
I'm going for a Roobois Tea, I think.
-
We stink of relegation.
-
Weimann's first touch was rubbish there.
-
I wonder if this opening six minutes is helping Lambert 'put his finger on what's wrong'?
He like the owner is out of his depth and does not have a fucking clue...
Well, I don't know about the owner, but I agree completely about the manager. I think he's shit.
I think they both are failing.
-
The long ball to Benteke is such a waste of time and effort!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's precisely this which makes me want Lambert gone. Its really dispiriting to see us playing like this, I was under the impression that Lambert was going to make us into a pressing and passing side.
-
This is horrible.
No shape, just a few safe passes followed by a hoof. The players look like they've never met before.
-
Ive just opened the JD
can we sack him at HT
-
Glad the team talk went well after last weeks defeat!
-
Crossing from deep all the time. Get to the fooking line!
-
look at the defence for that goal fuckin awful
should have played Hutton , its that bad
-
Ive just opened the JD
can we sack him at HT
I have gone for the Magners. Sack him now.
-
I wonder if this opening six minutes is helping Lambert 'put his finger on what's wrong'?
He like the owner is out of his depth and does not have a fucking clue...
Well, I don't know about the owner, but I agree completely about the manager. I think he's shit.
Fucking hell Fergal, every fucking thread really!?
-
No clue just lumped over midfield all the time.
-
I think this might be Lambert's Bolton moment if it stays like this today.
-
This is horrible.
No shape, just a few safe passes followed by a hoof. The players look like they've never met before.
This is exactly what I expected.
-
we are fucking dreadful. It's very much like the QPR home game last year.
-
Oh FFS just seen the score and scorer. You couldn't make it up, it's like a nightmare of the worst sort.
-
This is a poor Norwich team making us look shit. We will be very lucky to stay up, and who will be at fault for that?
-
Ive just opened the JD
can we sack him at HT
Do we have to wait until then?
-
There's no initiative, invention or confidence anywhere in this team now, just when we really need it.
-
This is horrible.
No shape, just a few safe passes followed by a hoof. The players look like they've never met before.
This is exactly what I expected.
Yep, same here. The same team in the same formation….isn't there something about insanity being doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results?
Still, long way to go yet.
-
This is a poor Norwich team making us look shit. We will be very lucky to stay up, and who will be at fault for that?
You know what, you have made the same point, with every post, for the last x months, you are the most one dimensional poster in the history of forums.

Fucking hell Fergal, every fucking thread really!?
Fucking hell Ozz yes. If we can moan about the manager we can surly moan about the owner too...
-
No bloody movement what-so-ever.
Fucking statues.
-
Weimann is the angriest young Austrian since Hitler.
-
20 minutes gone. Not a shot on target.
-
worse Villa team in years
awful
cant fucking pass to each other as usual
giving the ball away
useless bloody useless
-
We look desperate.
-
For a football team we are terrible on the ball.
-
No bloody movement what-so-ever.
Fucking statues.
Indeed. They look like they've spent the afternoon drinking cider or something
-

And the most accurate...
-
I'd have Clark over Baker and I would try something a bit more adventurous in midfield.
Ah well, UTV!
Didn't know that would be possible with the squad we have
-
No bloody movement what-so-ever.
Fucking statues.
Indeed. They look like they've spent the afternoon drinking cider or something
This midfield does not work. It has been proven many time. For any of the other reasons, this is where Lambert deserves the most stick.
-
HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFF
-
This is a poor Norwich team making us look shit. We will be very lucky to stay up, and who will be at fault for that?
You know what, you have made the same point, with every post, for the last x months, you are the most one dimensional poster in the history of forums.
Ridiculous rebuttal. Blaming the manager is treating the symptom we have endured relegation struggles for four years under three managers why shouldn't a poster question the owners?
-
Hoolahan is looking a lot like the player we could really do with in our midfield.
-
This is embarrassing
-
im sorry KEA ids not a footballer
gethim to sell the programmes
-
That passage of play really sums things up: 5-6 lateral or backward passes and then Vlaar gives the ball to a Narrich player.
-
Just awful on every level.
-
This is a shambles and a depressing one at that. Why i expected any different i don't know, it's been like this all season.
-
I am really starting to think we will actually go down this season. We look worse than ever.
-
Weimann is the angriest young Austrian since Hitler.
Though not nearly as dangerous.
-
Wow! What a goal!
-
My god, we have scored, has it been disallowed?
-
and a goal for us
-
Fucking awesome.
-
Hoolahan is looking a lot like the player we could really do with in our midfield.
The type we have been after for a few seasons....
-
What a goal!
-
thank fuck for that
;)

No one does, but at least be constructive. Sniping on a match thread about an owner who has sunk over 300m of his money into the club is frankly pointless. Talk about the game, the manager, but FFS there are a multitude of threads you already mnkae the same posts on a good
Fuck
What a goal
Randys fault I am sure Fergal?
-
CONGO!
-
Boooooooooooooooom!
-
Did that really happen?
-
That was alright though!
-
Individual quality of the first order.
-
Where the fuck have you been Benteke?
-
thats a few million back on his price at last ;)
-
boom
-
You beauttttttttttyyyyyyyyyyyyy. Out of absolutely nothing.
-
That's the ticket! More please
-
Damn, go to the toilet....... Took it well
-
Brilliant individual goal.
-
FUCK YEAH!!!!!
-
Hoolahan is looking a lot like the player we could really do with in our midfield.
I'm wondering if he is a good player or if it's just because it's against us.
-
Great goal from my prime position in upper north
-
Great technique to get that sort of power and accuracy on the shot from benteke - now lets up the tempo.
-
GREAT GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Sexy goal.
-
Wonder if that might be this season's Lowton moment.
-
I feel sorry for Benteke, no wonder he can't be arsed sometimes. What he just did was top quality, a player that should be making it big but in all honesty will be held back by us.
-
I missed the fooking goal! Typical,
Come on Villa, grab the initiative and beat these.
Huge goal.
-
World class finish out of nowhere. Utterly clueless build up though.
-

You really can be childish at times...
Fucking hell....
-
He's only gone and scored again!
-
fuck me
get in
-
another!
-
My god, we have scored again, I take it all back, Champions League here we come
-
Ha! You jammy ******, Lambert!
-
Still think there are 3 worse teams than us, probably not at this time, but over the season... heres hoping anyway!
-
CONGO!
-
2-1
-
Fuck! 2-1!!!!!
-
GET IN!!!
COOMMMONNNN TEKEE!!!!!!
-
Love that man.
-
How about that for a slice of fried gold? Gerrrrrrrrrinnnnnnnn youuuuu beauuuuuuuuuuttttttttyyyyyyyyy.
-
double boom
-
Lambert would be absolutely nowhere without Christian Benteke.
-
Swansea one up on Palace - need a draw there really
-
HE'S BACK! BENTEKE IS BACK!
-
Finally Westwood doesn't float a corner and we score.
-
Thanks Benteke.
-
Get the fuck in.
-
Now lets take these turkeys!
-
Come on, keep it going.
-
who would believe this 5 mins ago
well done Benteke
-
fuck me, cometh the hour and all that. The BEAST IS BACK
-
Ha! You jammy c***, Lambert!
No question. Individual brilliance is not a tactic.
-
I missed the second one an' all!!!
Come on, get in! Give us something to cheer!!
-
This is the Benteke we love
-

I don't think we are allowed to criticise Randy, lets just keep beating up the manager.
-
Spurs one up on Cardiff, the day is suddenly looking up!
-
PAUL LAMBERTS CLARET N' BLUE ARMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(tongue in cheek)
-
maybe the 6-1 after all ;)
-
Bassong under pressure is very, very vulnerable.
-
Lambert would be absolutely nowhere without Christian Benteke.
It was that fucking awful own stumping up 7 million when we were losing shit loads of money to buy him who should be embarrassed by the whole thing.
-
Swansea one up on Palace - need a draw there really
No, we need Swansea to beat them. I'd rather be 14th with distance down to 18th than be joint 11th but the gap below be even tighter.
-
This is a poor Norwich team making us look shit. We will be very lucky to stay up, and who will be at fault for that?

I think it's just that maybe we could keep discussion of the owner for another thread, and use this one for the match itself, Fergal. Which does't seem too unreasonable.
-
Ha! You jammy c***, Lambert!
No question. Individual brilliance is not a tactic.
My thoughts exactly, we are winning despite Lambert, not because of him.
-
Don't take your foot off the pedal, Villa, lets bum these bitter carrot crunchers into next week.
-
go on send him off
-
Lambert would be absolutely nowhere without Christian Benteke.
It was that fucking awful own stumping up 7 million when we were losing shit loads of money to buy him who should be embarrassed by the whole thing.
Indeed. Good work from everybody to get him in.
-
What a surprise, whip in a corner and look what happens.
Hat trick please big man. He seemed to be directing some anger towards the fans after he scored.
-
That is a red card all day. Ref has bottled that completely.
-
Booking. Schoolly D
-
easy could be red that

I really dont want to get into an argument on here today.
-
Definite red, that
-
This is a poor Norwich team making us look shit. We will be very lucky to stay up, and who will be at fault for that?
You know what, you have made the same point, with every post, for the last x months, you are the most one dimensional poster in the history of forums.
So you think everything is rosy then?
No one does, but at least be constructive. Sniping on a match thread about an owner who has sunk over 300m of his money into the club is frankly pointless. Talk about the game, the manager, but FFS there are a multitude of threads you already mnkae the same posts on a good
Fuck
What a goal
Randys fault I am sure Fergal?
But it's just an opinion. And he chooses these idiots in charge. We're all fed up and frustrated.
I don't think we are allowed to criticise Randy, lets just keep beating up the manager.
Tell you what Fergal, how about dropping this "I'm not allowed an opinion" shit?
-
I really dont want to get into an argument on here today.
Stop banging in about the chairman then
-
The change in Benteke's body language right now is pretty remarkable.
So much so that here I am remarking on it.
-
Kind of decision that will totally change a game that. Off and realistically we should go on and dominate.
Ref made a very, very poor decision then. Awful, awful challenge.
-
Weimann really isn't on form. Why not Albie?!
-
I really dont want to get into an argument on here today.
Well stop saying the same thing over and over or resist posting.
-
well thank fook he didnt start Holt
CB have saved Lambert so far
cause we were shite up to his magicical goal
now push on for the third
-

I think it's just that maybe we could keep discussion of the owner for another thread, and use this one for the match itself, Fergal. Which does't seem too unreasonable.
I wasn't discussing him, I was berating him for being crap at running a football club.
Enough of that, I want to enjoy watching us win today.
-
Benteke right now is abusing Bassong. Need to keep this up
-
Definite red, that
What for Fergal? ;)

Not at the moment

For you, yes.
-
fuck that was close
guzan save
-
Ha! You jammy c***, Lambert!
No question. Individual brilliance is not a tactic.
My thoughts exactly, we are winning despite Lambert, not because of him.
Absolutely spot on.
-
Hoolohan looks like just the player we need - even Stuart Pearce can see it
-
Guzan reminding us how bloody good he is.
-
cant be doing with a bum squeak second half
-
Definite red, that
What for Fergal? ;)
Not at the moment
Not at the moment but my card is marked...
-
YEEEESSS!!!!
-
3-1, bloody hell
-
3-1.
Fucking get in.
-
Bloody liquid football!!!!!
Fucking great goal Villa!
-
What a turnaround! Brilliant stuff.

For you, yes.
So I am to be treated differently to everyone else?

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
FuckingYESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
GET IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Well it looks like this is what we do now!
-
What a great break away goal wayhay
-
Fuck yes!!!!!!
-
Brilliant play from Gabby.
-
Shut up
I really dont want to get into an argument on here today.

stop it and watch the game
-
fuck. YES.
-
What a goal...
-
Surely that will be enough to seal the points- lambert will survive for now but I'd still like to see him depart in the summer.
-
It's been a brilliant first season for Bacuna
-
stream went down
missed that fucker
-
Brilliant counter goal that, fantastic.
-
Let's hope benteke has a scoring run to end of season now... But he won't be here next season
-

No one else is trolling every thread with the same point.
-
Great goal from Bacuna - he is a really effective scorer
-
Only just got in, was 1-0 down, suddenly 3-1 up. WTF is it with this team?
-
Could be similar to the sunderland game now - been a long time since we had a cushion to sit back on.
-
Permission to unclench bum cheeks, Captain.
Aye-aye, sir.
-
Permission to unclench bum cheeks, Captain.
Aye-aye, sir.
That comes at 5 not 3 with Baker at the back!
-
Only just got in, was 1-0 down, suddenly 3-1 up. WTF is it with this team?
I have never know a team so reliant on confidence.
-
It's been a brilliant first season for Bacuna
Damn straight. These lists of supposedly awful signings and Bacuna seems to be on most of them.
Five goals, most of them really good, mostly from right back from a player that nobody had ever heard of before.
Well done him.
-
The change in Benteke's body language right now is pretty remarkable.
So much so that here I am remarking on it.
I wondered yesterday how he'd react to seeing Lukaku coming back from injury and scoring the winner.
-
Vlaar has defended well today
-

I didn't start arguing with anyone and amazingly I am now enjoying the game :)
It's amazing what a bit of confidence can do.
-
WOW, how things can change
-
One more goal and the game is dead. The longer we go without getting it, I'll be keepi
-
4-1 oh my fucking goodness
-
YEEESSS!!!! Another one!
-
Three goals for the northstanders :)
-
4-1 now we can sit back and enjoy :)
-
Nice to show the neutrals on TV , how good we are ;)
4 -1 ;)
-
bye bye Norwich
-
It's been a brilliant first season for Bacuna
Damn straight. These lists of supposedly awful signings and Bacuna seems to be on most of them.

Well done him.
He has been brilliant.
4-1
Finsh Seb.
Great ball Delph.
-
Fuck me, Norwich do capitulation better than we do.
-
Three goals for the northstanders :)
or four hahaha
-
OH YESS
-
I now have one buttock on the settee and one on the kitchen window ledge.
-
Brilliant stuff. All 4 of the 5 goals by current and future Villa players
-
Blimey, who could have saw this coming? You gotta love the Villa rollercoaster at times.
-
Get in! Suddenly there's movement and incisive passing!
-
The Norwich players must be glancing at the bench and thinking Lambert's still their manager. Or something.
-
This has turned from our worst performance to our best performance perhaps even so far under Lambert. This is absolutely brilliant.
-
It's been a brilliant first season for Bacuna

Agreed
-
Brilliant counter goal that, fantastic.
Plan A works again!
-
Fuck me, Norwich do capitulation better than we do.
The Carlsberg of capitulations!
-
As predicted, Bassong has folded.
-
Trust me not to go to the sodding pub for this one, mind you they probably aren't showing the Villa. What time is MOTD on? is it past my bedtime?
-
Where are you, let's be avin you!! Come on Villa!
-
We must be the only fans that are still twitchy with a 4-1 lead. This has got 4-4 written all over it.
-
12th at the moment. Level on points with 10th.
-
Where has this performance come from?
No complaining from me though, this is a game we had to win and the response since drawing level has been utterly phenomenal.
-
still should sack him at half time and take the 3 points now ::)
..
-
Blimey, who could have saw this coming? You gotta love the Villa rollercoaster at times.
Just be ready for the next match thread. I am superstitious, and will be calling you out from the first minute.
-
this is the frustrating thing about this team. We know we can play like this and have done so against better sides than Norwich. It just doesn't happen often enough. But when it does it is superb to watch
-
We must be the only fans that are still twitchy with a 4-1 lead. This has got 4-4 written all over it.
Leicester. Mark Draper.... still gives me cold sweats.
-
Confidence is everything in this side.
Is Hoolahan out of contract in the summer?
-
We're good when we play fucking football, on the ground, moving around off the ball, minimal boofing, choosing our moment. Why on earth don't we do this all the time?
-
This has turned from our worst performance to our best performance perhaps even so far under Lambert. This is absolutely brilliant.
It's still got a way to go to match Sunderland I'd say.
-
Blimey, who could have saw this coming? You gotta love the Villa rollercoaster at times.
Just be ready for the next match thread. I am superstitious, and will be calling you out from the first minute.
I will be drinking Magners and and thinking you know what about you know who :)
-
come on Lambert
get Albrighton on ffs
-
Blimey, who could have saw this coming? You gotta love the Villa rollercoaster at times.

I love it!!! Always nice to see peace break out. We all ove the villa, we all care and when they play like this we all agree!
-
Nice.
Vlaar, El Ahmadi and Westwood play it around nicely, chest, head, left, right - back to Baker who shins it thirty feet in the air.
-
Confidence is a powerful tonic
-
We actually look like a football team now.
-
should have done better there Gabby but the move was lovely
-
should have been 5
lambert out
-
this is the frustrating thing about this team. We know we can play like this and have done so against better sides than Norwich. It just doesn't happen often enough. But when it does it is superb to watch
Aint it just - lets keep it going 2nd half though and make it a day to remember - the fans deserve it.
-
We must be the only fans that are still twitchy with a 4-1 lead. This has got 4-4 written all over it.
Leicester. Mark Draper.... still gives me cold sweats.
I'm expecting Norwich to sign, and bring on Younes Kaboul at half time.
-
I have Sky but I really cant bring myself to watch it, nerves are shredded and its bound to go wrong if I turn the telly on.
-
Blimey, who could have saw this coming? You gotta love the Villa rollercoaster at times.

What you think about in your own home is not something any match thread needs to be considering.
-

It's called football. I know we don't get to see much of it so enjoy it whilst it lasts.
-
Confidence is a powerful tonic
I was thinking just the same.
-
If Norwich end the game with 11 men I'll be shocked
-
Not a bad half that.
-
Still think Hoolahan would make a good squad player for us.
-
Was that doug in the players tunnel as they walked off?
-
Hands up if you wet your pants after 10 minutes.
-
Blimey, who could have saw this coming? You gotta love the Villa rollercoaster at times.

Well it involves you, suspenders and a gimp mask...
-
We are so bizarre. Barely did anything yet scored four goals and then for a ten minute spell start swaggering with El Ahmadi suddenly everywhere.
-
Brilliant stuff. All 4 of the 5 goals by current and future Villa players
*applause*
-
Still think Hoolahan would make a good squad player for us.
he would. He's different to the current group of midfielders. I'd get Hoolahan and another player like him but younger and better.
-
I'm well unclenched after that half. It's in the bag now and it's time to climb the table. I'm talking about the game/team now, not my arse.
-
This has turned from our worst performance to our best performance perhaps even so far under Lambert. This is absolutely brilliant.
It's still got a way to go to match Sunderland I'd say.
I actually think this is better than Sunderland so far. The Sunderland one had a bit more fortune about some of the goals, whereas these have all been really quite good. Even the own-goal had terrific movement to set up the chance. According to the Beeb we've had 60% of the ball, which we've turned into four goals. I don't think we've ever dominated like this under Lambert.
-
See pass and move and we look alright. Since our first goal KEA has been great.
-
Good Stuff.
I've seen the big eared boys down on the farm
-
Where has this performance come from?
I've always said this team aren't half as bad as Lambert makes them.
-
well what a mad half
Norwich take the lead , look like getting a second
Villa awful
Lambert is big trouble
a fantastic goal from nowhere from the big man to give us a lift and then score another 3
this should save our season and might be another sunderland and the fans deserve it.
it can only happen with Villa
-
I have to say I still don't rate KEA, but I'd love to see the stats on his coverage, he's everywhere.
-
Still think Hoolahan would make a good squad player for us.
Yes, he's the type of player who can go for another year or two at the top level. Would give us an additional option.
-
Come on Delia, let's be 'aving you. Where are you?
-
Never saw that coming at all. Benteke creating a chance for himself out of absolutely nothing is what he's been missing since last season. And the surge of confidence it gave him and us was palpable. Rode that wave all the way to half time.
-
If we can get another 4 we'll be 10th again! Palace and Cardiff currently losing as well.
-

7.3 to Villa.
-
Well people should I feel relaxed in my seat? By the way Karim has been very good and all our early problems were due to Delf not being at his best today.
-
This game shows exactly why I'm not willing to turn on Lambert or this team, when things click we've got a lot of quality here. Benteke and Delph have been superb, Bacuna took his goal brilliantly and we're passing and moving exactly as I've been hoping we would. We still have a few small problems, we're not getting hold of Hoolahan and Gabby and Weimann look short of confidence in front of goal but this is what we should've been seeing all season.
-
Where has this performance come from?
I've always said this team aren't half as bad as Lambert makes them.
Agreed, a better manager could get a lot more from these players on a regular basis .
-
this is the frustrating thing about this team. We know we can play like this and have done so against better sides than Norwich. It just doesn't happen often enough. But when it does it is superb to watch
I'd agree there - it is almost as if hey lack belief but then it can't be that as they often come back from a goal down in the games we when. Fk knows what it is, but whatever it is that last half hour was really good to watch.
-
Benteke has bullied Bassong, Hoolahoop looks there only decent player and we are rampant.
With Norwich scoring an early goal it meant we had to have some urgency, which is what we have lacked the last few weeks.
-
Where has this performance come from?
I've always said this team aren't half as bad as Lambert makes them.
Unless in the last couple of weeks he's been getting them to practice this football. I hope so - he's tried everything else.
-
Keep up the tempo and I see an 8-1 win on the horizon.
-
This game shows exactly why I'm not willing to turn on Lambert or this team, when things click we've got a lot of quality here.
The thing is, even a broken clock tells the right time twice a day.
-
I won't count my chickens until FT. Remember the Leicester 4-4. Vlaar looks shakey.
-

Welcome back.
-
KEA has been superb the boy doesn't half cover some yards!
-
AND results going our way as well.
-
Well.... bugger me.
That's more like it Villa. On our own turf we should be beating anyone in this bottom 10. We've shown when we concentrate, keep composed and use our fucking brains a bit, we can play football. We should beat Cardiff, we should beat West Ham, we should beat Norwich. Today we're getting it right.
Westwood is in a decent run of form. He can play when he's on it.
El Ahmadi has turned into Zenidine Zifrickindane today. He needs to play like this every game. He's getting stuck in. He's reading the game well. He's showing plenty of movement, not going hiding, not going missing. He's got to do it week in, week out. People say he's no good at home, but actually, if he gets himself into the game and tries to impose himself on a game, he's the sort of player who'll probably actually be better at home. He looks sharp today.
Why can't we play like this every week? We'd win more than we lose and we'd be extremely comfortable. We might not have a fantastic squad and some of the players are questionnable, but we can put out a first 11 easily good enough to be sitting where Southampton and Newcastle are, not scrapping with this dross.
Bacuna has been a cracking signing, must be said. He's having a good season indeed.
Lets have this more often please Lambert. Don't go fannying around with this formula.
-
I was hoping that we would smash these farmers into next week for months now. Their stroppy and bitter attitude towards the Villa is pathetic.
-
This game shows exactly why I'm not willing to turn on Lambert or this team, when things click we've got a lot of quality here.
The thing is, even a broken clock tells the right time twice a day.
Exactly if we have the players who can play well then it's up to the manager to organise and get the best from them on a regular basis , not once every now and again .
-
Just flicked on the Madrid derby during half-time. One of the coaches is confronting the referee. He's a big bloke and 6/7 are struggling to restrain him!
-
I decided not to undertake the 250 mile round trip today after a busy weekend. I thought it would be a poor game with two nervy teams playing dross.
My decision obviously brought about a change in Villa fortunes ...
-
Just had a text from a mate who is at the game and is also a Norwich fan. He reckons they will collapse even further if we keep going at them.
-
I thought we were fantastic, I really do.
-
Just had a text from a mate who is at the game and is also a Norwich fan. He reckons they will collapse even further if we keep going at them.
I hope he's right.
-
I'm glad this is happening at home. Our fans at Villa Park deserve some goals, some good football and some entertainment from us.
-
I won't count my chickens until FT. Remember the Leicester 4-4. Vlaar looks shakey.
Vlaar's defended well IMO; his distribution has been a little flaky.
-
Wet cold happy. 4 North Stand goals. Marvellous. Told you my new home shirt would bring us luck.
-
I hope we give Stoke a good roasting too. It'd be nice to finish with a bit of a flourish at Villa Park this season. Certainly we should be beating anyone in the bottom 10 on our own patch.
-
I decided not to undertake the 250 mile round trip today after a busy weekend. I thought it would be a poor game with two nervy teams playing dross.
You should have read my pre-match score prediction - 4-1. I was going to go for a 6-1 win but thought people would think I was taking the piss.
-
Benteke looks a great bet for a hat trick - I'd expect holt to get 20 minutes or so as well.
-
I'm glad this is happening at home. Our fans at Villa Park deserve some goals, some good football and some entertainment from us.
Yeah ... wonder who's sitting in my season ticket seat today?
-
I'm glad this is happening at home. Our fans at Villa Park deserve some goals, some good football and some entertainment from us.
Indeed they do - been a long time since we had a comfortable lead and could relax and enjoy the show.
-
Let's hope for some more in the 2nd half; rebuild the goal diff and give the players a shot of confidence.
-
I'm glad this is happening at home. Our fans at Villa Park deserve some goals, some good football and some entertainment from us.
Yeah ... wonder who's sitting in my season ticket seat today?
I was offered a ticket for today, turned it down to spend some time with the family and that. Poor timing maybe. Looks like a game worth being at.
-
Wet cold happy. 4 North Stand goals. Marvellous. Told you my new home shirt would bring us luck.
I bet you are soaked fella?
-
I won't count my chickens until FT. Remember the Leicester 4-4. Vlaar looks shakey.
I thought we could've done with one more before half-time. Just to be sure, like.
-
Now do we keep it tight and settle for the 4-1 win or go for it and up our goal difference... I say go for the jugular
-
Great comeback that half. Fantastic in fact, considering the pressure they all must of felt going behind so early.
Jamie Carragher thought it was funny that a player muted his celebration and had not even played for the opposing team. I reckon Carragher as a little bit of a soft spot for the Villa the way he talks about how big a club we are and where we should be.
-
One down and went for a shower. Came back and it's 4.1. Surreal.
-
I thought Gabby had a great 45 minutes.
-
Just had a text from a mate who is at the game and is also a Norwich fan. He reckons they will collapse even further if we keep going at them.
I hope he's right.
Me too...
-
Playing forward passes quicker, and first time, moving off the ball, supporting the attack, and giving options to the man on the ball.As someone said earlier, why haven't we been playing like this all season.
Despite my uncertainties of PL, i have always said we are not far off a reasonable team.....desperately need to keep CB though.Good midfielder, and a good striker in the summer, and hopefully we are finally on the way.
-

Welcome back.
Thank you, I was taught that if you can't say something nice then don't say anything at all, so I've barely spoke about football for a few weeks, more importantly I'm a rugby boy at heart so this is a rare weekend in recent weeks where there hasn't been internationals or Heineken cup games to catch my attention away from poor performances.
-
Snodgrass off, seems strange. No complaints.
-
I was hoping that we would smash these farmers into next week for months now. Their stroppy and bitter attitude towards the Villa is pathetic.
As I said earlier, I am sure they are playing Hoolahan out of pettiness rather than necessity. First start in 2 months.
His reaction to his goal was very honourable and telling too.
-
Dont be the shit Villa now for the next 45 lads
-
Norwich from the top down must be absolutely spewing about this so far.
I hope the lads don't think the job is done yet. Tekkers to bag at least another one would be great.
-
Too soon to ask if Dan can loo forward to opening the next match thread?
-
Lets give them a chance now and bring on Tonev.
-
Wet cold happy. 4 North Stand goals. Marvellous. Told you my new home shirt would bring us luck.
I bet you are soaked fella?
I'm soaked mate, tipping it down here. Purposely missed the last train back home to stay out and watch this. Recovering from pneumonia. But it's worth it when we win.
-
Oooh! Gabby should have probably done a bit better there! Good stuff though!
-
should be scoring that
-
They're kicking the football to each other. *foams at mouth*
-
Gabby showing why he does not score enough goals.
Very good player now, but sorely needs to add to his goal tally. Should be getting 10-12 a season.
-
I see beards are this years tattoo sleeve.
-
I am hoping that as they chase the game we can get a couple more, goal difference might be crucial by the end of the season.
-

Greg Nash was similar except he'd disappear if we'd won.
-
Yeah, we could do with a few more to counteract the shellacking we'll likely get at the Etihad.
-
My mate texting me say "you van relax now, you're safe!" Who is he kidding. After Liverpool away I thought we would set off on a good run but its been mainly dross since, i'm not going to be convinced by 45 mins of football. Again. But loving the score line so far.
-

He'll score today. He bloody deserves it based on his first half performance. He normally would have buried a header like that.
-
I see beards are this years tattoo sleeve.
We had a singer-songwriter night at my local pub last night. Loads of 20 something with beards.
-

A bit of consistency over a few games would be good, something we desperately need.

Hoolahan helping us now.
-
Agent Hoolahan now just smashing the ball into the stands at every opportunity.
Good work lad.

That was fucking nasty on Westy. Jeeze.
-
Wet cold happy. 4 North Stand goals. Marvellous. Told you my new home shirt would bring us luck.
I bet you are soaked fella?
Rain held off apart from last 15 mins of selling so could have been worse.
-
Bradley Johnson very lucky to not be sent for that one too. Studs up over the ball. A couple of really nasty ones from them today.
-
Norwich look susceptible in the air, Albrighton on for Weimann so we can whip some quality balls into the box and i'm sure we'd get another couple of goals.
-
Man alive, Efan Ekoku doesn't half talk out of his arse.
-
It's nice to watch a game without feeling, nervous, anxious, angry, etc
-
I see beards are this years tattoo sleeve.
We had a singer-songwriter night at my local pub last night. Loads of 20 something with beards.
The Dean Friedman legacy.
Norwich can thank their lucky stars that we're not as great as we like to think we are
-
Stretching the game wide now would be my call too.

Bravo.

Also sending on Holt. Just for fun.

Close the door and come to bed..
-
I think Grant Holt should come on. For Norwich.
-
I do think it sums up Norwich as a whole through this that they start Hoolahan for the first time in months. Back to the bench/reserves after this, I imagine.

Mongo straight.
-
Gone very scrappy now.

Holt for 5-1 would be fun.
-
Benteke needs 1 more for double figures in league again, would be 29 over 2 seasons
-
Gone very scrappy now.
We may not be playing well but at least we're closing them down.
-
Time to get KEA and Weimann off
-

True. Really need to not hand them a silly lifeline.
-
One down and went for a shower. Came back and it's 4.1. Surreal.
Happy birthday!
-
Time to get KEA and Weimann off
I would be tempted to keep it as it is and kill the game off.
-
Ideal situation to give Robinson some match time. Get the lad on.
-
Time to get KEA and Weimann off
KEA has been brilliant and looks tired now. Misread your earlier post. Wrong decision today but never mind.
-
Want another goal or two.
-
It would be nice to actually have the ball and mount an attack or two ...
-
It would appear normal service has resumed.
-
This is often frustrating. You can see we need fresh legs on now, up top and in midfield. But Lambert just waits.
-
Time for Albrighton.
-
Why Holt?!!!
-
Looks like Holt coming on.
-
It looks like Holt coming on.
-
Why Holt?!!!
They always score against their ex's
-
I would have thought Albrighton was a good option here
-
Salt rubbed into wounds?
-
There's two players ready to come on. Alby could be the other.
-
Why Holt?!!!
Coasting to three points, willing runner, holding the ball up is one of his limited number of qualities.
I'd have said this is the sort of situation that he's here for.

Or, give Robinson a run out
-
Why Benteke off?
-
Time for the Trojan 'The Thousand Bolts of Holt'.
-
Also, it's a nice revenge piss-take after their petulant conduct over the Hoolahan offers.
-
Nice reaction for Holt from the Norwich fans.
-
Cruising to a win now so let's not get too caught up in we are playing. We need to remain disciplined. No isse with Holt coming on. In fact I'd have been way more surprised had he not played some part in the game.
-
Has anything happened second half?
-
Has anything happened second half?
We've brought a real man on.
-
Has anything happened second half?
Nope. We've shut the game down very well.
-
Has anything happened second half?
Nothing.

Which actually is what teams like Chelsea do and which we never normally seem able to manage so fair do's today for doing so..
-
Swansea and Palace level, still say that suits us
-
Well, Holt really is not very good ...
-
Swansea and Palace level, still say that suits us
Very much so.
Means that we're fourteenth thirteenth twelfth eleventh
-
Nice to watch a game without pacing up and down the lounge biting my finger nails
-
Probably the worst half of football I've ever seen.
Although when you're 3 goals up this is weirdly pleasurable to watch.
-
Up to 11th now palace have equalised

This just might be the game that takes the pressure off and gives us a bit of confidence to see out the season well clear of the bottom three.
-
Don't think anyone else has mentioned it, but Westwood has had a really good game today.
-
Now I can see Grant Holt is absolutely essential for seeing out the win when we're 4:1 up.
-

A million times this.
-
Probably the worst half of football I've ever seen.

It hasn't been pretty watching us chase Norwich but the 3 points was all today was about and we've got them.
-

Blimey, you should watch more games.
