I'd love to think we could do them but after that result at West Ham, they'll be looking to wrap up the title asap.

2 - 0 to them, don't care who scores.

We might get a draw but realistically we should lose. The need for Benteke to be on his best form is imperative to any kind of result.

1-1 hopefully.

Pretty much my feelings as well.

I think it'll be another of those Man Utd games where we take the lead, then realise we're beating Man Utd and bottle it, with them getting a heart breaking winner in the 112th minute.

I'll be munching prawns for this one.

So, I'll get food poisoning from the prawns just before kick-off. I'll then run tot he toilet and vomit, passing on my germs to a waitress, who will then pop into the staff room where she'll meet the chief steward. The steward will have nicked some food from the kitchen, transferring germs as he goes, before passing the food on to the referee's steward. He will shake hands, transferring the germs again and the ref will blow his whistle to kick-off and the spittle will transfer to Rooney and Van Persie who will both then come down with sickness and diarrhoea.

They will have no fit subs and we'll play against 8 men, (there will have been a sending off by then) coming out 3-1 winners.

Agbonlahor 11 8)

And it will be the most nervous last 25 minutes ever. We'll be hanging on for dear life, camped in our own 6 yard box.

I'd play our strongest team then if we're 3 or 4 down with half hour to play then do we a) try and keep the better players fit, so make a few changes, or b) Keep the better players on, as we can't afford for our goal difference to take more of battering?

He then gets murdered for pace by Gabby, tossed around like a rag doll by Benteke and we spend the most excruciatingly nervous last 15 minutes defending a one goal lead, to come away as the only side to have stopped them scoring at Old Trafford since 2009. Where we stopped them scoring.

I can see Man Utd being on the receiving end of some generous refereeing decisions and the way we are at the back, can see them getting at least one penalty.  3-1 defeat for us and we go again.

Weird. I instinctively put us down for a draw then immediately had a long hard think for all of ten seconds and realised those spawny wankers will score a late winner even if we are remotely in the mix. Cue the cameras on a smug Ferguson chewing ten to the dozen on his rancid gum while Phelan looks up at him like a lovelorn puppy.  >:(

Think Villa will win and Manure was winning 2-0 at half time, then an inspired team talk. see Villa scoring in 46th minutes and then 89th minutes then a wondergoal from Matthew Lowton again to seal a 3-2 win. Alex Ferguson say "Aston Villa is so brilliant in second half we couldn't get the ball, and I am pleased with the referee today"

If we can keep the deficit down to two goals then I think it has been a decent result. I think we can at least score and make a contest of it though. I think we should go back to 4-3-3 with either Bannan or Sylla joining Westwood and Delph in midfield and also (as already mentioned) Benteke to have a stormer if we are to stand any glimmer of hope IMO.

Had a bizarre dream we turned them over 1-4 after they dropped points at West Ham.....back in reality a 3-0 defeat.

I think they are pretty average this season by their own standards, but RVP, Rooney and Co will give our back 4 problems all night.

I actually also had a dream regarding this match. I was following it on the BBC website. We were 2-0 up. They made it 2-1. I refreshed the page at the end to see it was 2-2. Rooney in the 87th minute. It should be noted that my football dreams rarely come true.

This our equivelant of how Bradford must have felt. So we need their star striker ( Van P) to have a stinker like Benteke did at Bradford, oh and he must also fail to mark at corners. We must get a lucky first goal and Guzan must play the best game of his life.

Sorted. 3-1 Villa.

Think we need Tekkers to get mullering tips from Andy Carroll and then try and take out half their side while Richard Dunne does a hypnotic belly dance to distract the ref. This plan does however require that we roll Dunney out onto the pitch of course. But we can send Rooney and RVP to casualty in the first five minutes and then bring on Baker.

I think we have won 3 times there since World War 11, '54,83,09!!!. We also lost a F,A Cup semi, and a F.A Cup q/f there too. I think we have a very bad record at ST James Park as well IIRC. Im going to the game on Monday more in hope, than expectation, but maybe we can snatch a point we could be absolutely vital.

Three things are vital from this game;

Keep the score tight. If we are going to lose, lose by 1 goal. Ive been think our GD would not matter but looking the other day i think there are maybe 2-3 teams  maybe 3-4 goals better than us. This could come back into play with a couple of favourable results.

No red cards. Is there an amnesty window just passed where yellow cards have been wiped?

No injuries. I wouldnt risk anyone for this. A benteke, Guzan or Vlaar injury now could send us down.

If Man City lose, then Utd can wrap up the title against us.  So if that does happen, they'll be well up for putting it to bed, meaning we'd lose.

Man United are a good side or they wouldn't be top of the league, but they are not the force they were. I'd say there's probably a 70% chance they'll win. We just need to hope they're not at their game and we're at the top of ours. Half of the problem is overcoming our mental block of conceding great positions to win games against them.

Agbonlahor 43"
Young 90+5"
Van Persie 90+8"
Kagawa Tuesday

They will get three minutes and Fergie will go spare. But for us, holding on to our precious 2-1 lead, it will be the longest three minutes of the season.

Also, Fergie time elapses as soon as a winning goal is scored.

Young's out for the season so I would hope even our defence will keep him quiet for ninety (five) minutes

Every bone in my body would love us to beat them at their stupid Disneyland stadium, among their arrogant gloryhunting brethren.

Every bone in my body would love to see Benteke punch a hole in a back of the net at the Stretford End and take out a couple of the Brummie reds who drape their stupid flag from the Stretford End next to the silly ‘One love’ nonsense.

Every bone in my body would love us to score in stoppage time and wreck their relentless charge to another title.

Every bone in my body would love to see crying Man Utd fans, as our team celebrates in the centre circle.

Every bone in my body would love to see Lambert sprinting across the pitch as Siralex shuffles off to the tunnel, whilst Chinese tourists take photos of him.

Every bone in my body would love to see Gary Neville looking on aghast from the commentary position as Tayls or Stan give him the w**k*r sign.

Every bone in my body would love to see the camera focus on the fat fu** Eamomn Holmes being consoled by Mick Hucknall.

Every bone in my body would love to see pictures of coaches labeled Bedford, Yeovil or Maidstone rolling out of the car park as Villa fans wave and blow kisses at the sad gloryhunting plonkers facing hours of travel home.

Not going to happen though is it!

I've just been watching Jack Woodward on AVTV and it's all "Theatre of Dreams" this and "Meccas of football that".  Apologies, but I need to let off some steam.

I like Jack but having him spout this type of shite in the faces of our young players doesn't half get on my goat.  Why does he constantly, constantly big up the opposition?  He's not being paid by MUTV, he's not even being paid by the BBC or ITV, he does not need to spout the cliched, hackneyed brand-building journalistic nonsense of that club.

Jack, you're being paid by Villa fans to give us news about Villa.  I'm not shelling out on AVTV every month to hear you chip away at the confidence of a Nathan Baker or to make Baker one day aspire to leave Villa Park and play at a "Mecca of football".  Who needs agents trying to sell other clubs to our players when Jack is around?

Jack, if you or anyone at all from AVTV is reading this, please, PLEASE stop it.  It's common sense.  You are in the privileged position of having close access to our players: don't big up the opposition.  You're in the faces of our players day in and day out - you have a huge part to play in how they (as well as us fans) see Aston Villa.  What you do and say affects their morale as well as ours.

Earlier in the season before we played man ure, the programme ,score board & press had adverts promoting the game at Villa Park.I didn't imagine this as my mate pointed it out-The text for the adverts had MAN UTD in big bold letters then Aston Villa in smaller typeface. How small time have we become.I know the club welcome extra revenue , but cant we draw the f*cking line  about pandering to tourists/gloryhunters/non Villa supporters on our media platforms in the interests of business.

Spot on Franky.  A part of the process of getting Villa back to the top is sweeping away this infuriatingly small-time attitude that seeps up to the surface every now and then.  Being trained in the media, the people at AVTV and the PR dept surely must know the power of words and language?  There are no excuses for this and it all just seeps into the mindset of everyone at the club.

Seriously, if I were Lambert I would get the AVTV people into my office and tell them: big up my players and this club only or get out of Aston Villa.  We work on the basis of Villa being number one and we take it from there.

Jack, God Love Him, is just infuriating in so many ways. His pallid features, his cliché-ridden patter, his exuberant carol-singing during the Christmas time visits to Acorns Hospices when he closes his eyes and sings (admittedly not badly) as if his life depends on it. His failure to ask anything remotely insightful practically ever, his psychophancy towards the manager and squad, his "Cheers for that Paul. Top man" trying-too-hard schtick with said staff, his commentary-style reminiscent of a pubescent boy who has spent too long indoors studying league tables and is still kinda scared of girls.
Plus he supports Sheffield shaggin' Wednesday.

QED

Put him out to pasture with Bananaman come June. It's a cruel, cruel summer.

That'd be even worse imo.   Alan Green spouting off about the referee, or fans in the stands standing up, or obsessing for ten minutes about Wayne Roooonay's future, all the while bemoaning Villa's lack of quality. When all you really want to hear is who has the ball and where on the pitch they are.

Me personally I'm going to watch it with the sound down, from behind the sofa.

Given that I live ten minutes from Man Ure's ground this is the one I look forward to the most each season; it's such a shame we have such a bloody awful record against them!

They're not playing great but if Man Citeh slip up v Spurs they could potentially be playing for the title and be right up for it so if that is the scenario then I fear the worst

I'm not envisaging anything on the scale of the Chelsea defeat but think they'll win this one comfortably - I'll go 3-1 with Benteke again on the scoresheet for us

Top Trumps would be better. Provided we nobble the dealer and get all Man Utd cards, we could play our Van Persie for goals scored and hope they're holding their Joe Bennett card. Then for tallest player we'd lay our Ferdinand against their Bannan and so on. We could cream them with their own players, Fergie would be coughing up blood. I've got 48 hrs to get approval from the FA, I'll come back to you.

I can see Fergie starting a slightly weakened side for this one, especially if Man City lose today. I can see the likes of Anderson, Buttner, Cleverley, Evans etc playing.

It'll be interesting to see what Lambert does. Might he throw Clark back in and go 5 at the back and maybe leave out someone like Weimann? Just a thought.

I hope not. It would have another several - 0 written all over it.

If he wants to left-field it, I'd rather see Carruthers or Daniel Johnson play as the furthest forward of a midfield 3.

And that inkling tells you what exactly? An wildly optimistic win, a depressingly pessimistic thrashing or a realistic draw (based upon half of the Utd squad going down with a stomach upset, following the pre match meal of prawn and crab ciabatta sandwiches)?

If we win I will I shall muster a wry smile and open a bottle of Moet and raise a glass to the optimists - If we draw I will inwardly be pleased but will do my utmost to suppress emotion -  if we lose I will shrug my shoulders and offer my congratulations to any Utd fans that I come across - and if we lose heavily I will drop to my knees, look heavenwards and mutter the mantra - "We go again"

If we can get through it without conceding a shedload i'll be happy. The goal difference between us and Wigan is only 1 now.  Could be crucial

No strange feeling about this at all, United will win this as they do the vast majority of times they play us.

Be interesting to see how Lambert plays this, there's no way Bowery should play in this as he would be out of his depth so hope Gabby can make it.

I'm a bit like Greg, I would take a 1-0 or 2-1 defeat and playing well as that wouldn't dent confidence and our goal difference wouldn't be knackered again.

I can see Fergie starting a slightly weakened side for this one, especially if Man City lose today. I can see the likes of Anderson, Buttner, Cleverley, Evans etc playing.
Disagree. I think Manure will send out a strong team if they know beating us will officially seal the title.

I can't see why Ferguson would play a weakened side as some have mentioned. I believe he has stated that they are trying to beat Chelsea's record PL winning points total.

No fixture backlog, involved in no other competitions, just a league game every weekend til the season's end. I can see no reasoning as to why they'll not go out and attempt to twat every side that presents itself before them.

However, I find it awfully bad form whenever any team gets one over on my mighty Aston Villa, so I have no choice other than to forecast a bloodied nose for those dastardly northeners, and a well-deserved three points returning down the A34.

Out of interest who is the ref tomorrow?

I wonder if Lerner has still got Siralex`s letter of recomendation for the Scottish Manager? If so could he take it out of his safe and reuse the envelope - send it back to Siralex stuffed full of £50`s - approx £1m) on the understanding that we "stick to the current arrangement of forgoing six points per season plus the odd cup tie - excepting tomorrow of course when a "below par Utd performance sees them dropping a point at Disney Manchester - do you think that would work?

I know that we are a pessimistic bunch at times but fuck me have some balls lads. We are playing better than under previous managers, have been on a decent run and are in no way the team that got battered repeatedly over Christmas. We play better away from home and will be up against a defence that are hardly lighting quick especially through the middle. We are going there to get a result and while it will be tough there's no reason why with serious graft and dedication we can't pinch something. The one thing for sure is that this Man Utd team will allow us to have our chances. We have to take them when they are presented. If we do we will make a game of it.

Tomorrow is much about the performance as the result. It will be a gauge of our mettle for the balance of the season. We can get a result and I'm looking forward to how we go about it. Tomorrow in no way dictates how the rest of the season will pan out but it will help massively for our confidence to put in a solid display. There will be loads more twists and turns for all teams in the danger zone beyond tomorrow and the game at Wigan.

I don't think it helps when before the game the TV/Radio. mention who the days officials are.
How many reds/pens they've given at that ground before etc.

They should be as low profile as possible.

Personally I have no doubt that we may give them a good game and may even score a couple of goals...but I also have no doubt that they have the quality to score at will particularly when we sit back and try to defend our lead for the last 20 minutes. If we are 2-1 up with 15 minutes to go, how many of us would be genuinely confident of us taking any points from the game?

It's all very well and good having balls, but we know ourselves only too well. We don't often do upsets when it comes to the likes of Man Utd, and now it's set up perfectly for them to win the title at home. Given our obliging and generous defence - which gives away silly penalties and scores own goals when the opposition are having trouble scoring for themselves - I don't think there are many teams they would rather play.

I fear there will be an early goal, followed by at least another two, perhaps three, sending us back down the motorway with that familiar feeling of rolling over and having our tummies tickled at Old Trafford. I hope I'm wrong.

Things's I'm not looking forward to tomorrow on Sky's coverage -

A one hour build up of gushing plaudits for Man U, while the opponents struggle to get a mention
Villa get anywhere near the goal and the commentator will glibly remark "Well, this isn't in the script!"
Grinning tourists crowding the corner flag to take photographs, during Utd's 25-30 corners.
Constant camera cuts to gauge Sir Bobby Charlton's reactions.
Constant camera cuts to Utd players on the bench, pissing around with their phones.
Robin Van Fucking Persie's smug goal celebration  >:(
A stonewall penalty for Villa getting waved away
Utd getting a penalty.
A red card, probably Delph.
Fergie laughing his bollocks off as Utd start passing the ball around to the sound of "ole, ole!"
Constant reminders that Villa are a "young side"
The worsened goal difference by the end of it all.

That said, I've put a tenner on us to win at 11-1.  :D

We'll get beat, but its incredibly crucial we don't suffer another Chelsea type scoreline.

If we do I think we'll go down. The team took an eternity to recover any sort of confidence after that one. They won't have that luxury of time if it happens again.

I'd seriously settle for anything less than 4-0.

One thing that always happens at Old Trafford is that Villa get an absolute sitter in the first ten minutes and I know what you're thinking, did Benteke fire six shots at Fulham without a goal or only five? Well, to tell you the truth, in all the excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is the Beast, the most powerful striker in the world, and would knock Rio Ferdinands head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

Its long overdue we pissed on their parade. 8)

only thing I will be betting on is Agbonlahor to score at any time during the match, i'm sure Utd will win but Gabby always seems to get on the end of one against them

I agree it is a sort of free git game, so anything is a bonus. I'm just worried about the effects - psychological and in terms of goal difference - of a good thumping. I can just visualise RVP and Rooney getting back on form and tearing us to pieces. It's definitely possible!

A decent performance and a narrow defeat tonight I think...2-1 I'll go for. It'll prove to be a defeat we can afford...the worst thing about the night will be it'll be where Man U claim the title...it was bad enough all those times in the late 70s when Liverpool needed to and did beat us to win the title. My biggest worry is red cards and injuries.

There are several reasons to wish for anything but a United win, but I've just thought of another...we'll be reminded of it all next season on the Match of the Day credits if we lose tonight.

It's TV for me tonight and it will be an awful, awful watch.  Sky's fawning over them will be sickening and "the whole world" will be watching and willing them to win it in style.  The preemier league will have all the staging and bunting ready to present and Sir Bloody Bobby will be sat there with an inane grin on his face for the whole time.  But as horrible as watching it will be, I just have to!  I hope and wish with every bone in my body that we piss on their parade, but I've watched us captitulate to these wankers so often that I know it just won't happen.  I just hope they cruise rather than destroy and our confidence and goal difference remain more or less in tact.

I expect the defeat at Old Trafford every time we play there, but what I can't abide is when the team shits its pants because they're playing at the 'Theatre of Dreams'. I'm hoping Lambert's been going on at the squad about how good they are, how everyone wants them to lose and how they aren't going to, how this is their proper stage...if we go there and just let United be United, we'll lose, and deserve to.

I'm so glad I was there a few season's back when we won 1-0.  My one abiding memory of that game was Stan booting it into the stand with about 30 seconds to go. I've walked out of there enough times and had to put up with their piss taking on the walk back to the coach so it was nice just for once to walk out with a smile on my face.

Apparently Yanited only need to turn up tonight. It s a case of "what time are they handing out the trophy?".

There will some disappointed, day tripping, Johnny Come Lately wankers going back down to Devon tonight. Still, at least they will have had a chance to go to the Megastore and get some good snaps of Andi and Benteke celebrating.

Odious plastic c***s.

There's a part of me that says this will all be over inside 20 minutes, they won't fuck it up from here, done & dusted, first attempt, on the beach by Tuesday morning.
The other part of me says we'll get a draw, we've enough about us to cause problems for them up front, but I still hold my breath every time the opoosition get a corner or free kick in our half.
We will score form open play tonight, that's my prediction, they'll score from a set piece.  So a draw it is.

It don't look good:

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head
Aston Villa have won only once in their last 32 league and cup games against Manchester United - a 1-0 triumph at Old Trafford in December 2009 when Gabby Agbonlahor scored with a header.
In league games only, United have lost just one of their last 34 meetings with Villa home and away since 1995 (W24, D9, L1).
Manchester United
United are vying to avoid suffering consecutive Premier League home defeats for the first time since 2002. They last went successive home matches without a win in 2007, losing to West Ham in May and then drawing their opening game of the following season against Reading.
The Red Devils need to win their remaining five matches to eclipse Chelsea's top-flight record of 95 points, set in 2004-05.
United have scored in 65 successive Premier League home matches since a 1-0 defeat by Aston Villa in December 2009.
They have recovered 28 points from losing positions in the league this season, a divisional high.
Wayne Rooney is expected to make his 400th appearance for United. He has scored nine Premier League goals for the club against Villa. It's his equal best record against any club, along with Bolton, Fulham and Newcastle.

our lads shouldn't need motivation beyond their own situation but what better way to shove it everyone's face than to win this game? The whole world saw us get battered at Chelsea. The whole world can see us come out of this with tremendous credit and evideence of commitment and development if we get a win against a team that everyone has said will win tonight. It's like we needn't bother showing. Give United the points and the trophy and they can all have a massive Sky orgy earlier in the evening without the nuisance of that little club from Birmingham being there.

For the first time I thought he sounded upbeat - we have nothing to lose by giving it the old gung ho as no way can this defence keep a clean sheet - lets give em a bloody good game Villa - I would be proud in defeat as long as we threw everything at them - a 4-3 or 3-2 for example.

Then that exact reason made me change my mind. Showered, changed, just waiting for the Mrs to get ready.

My plan is to avoid it by watching the soaps with the missus. Even then I know my son will want to watch it upstairs and give me updates. Plus I won't be able to help myself from flicking over every break. My reasons for 'bottling out' are threefold. Firstly, I think we will lose and I am worried by how many. Secondly, the obvious fact a United win means it is party time with us as the spare pr**ks. Thirdly, it is some superstitious psychology that if I don't watch I will stitch myself up and miss a classic Villa win.

I wasn't going to watch this tonight at the pub. Main reason being all the plastic wankers over here who will be watching and as usual, taking the piss.
Then that exact reason made me change my mind. Showered, changed, just waiting for the Mrs to get ready.
I just have a feeling that we are going to play our best football of the season tonight and i do not want to miss that, plus there is always the added advantage of the one local who will be there who i just love to annoy. Cretinous wanker he is.
So c'mon Villa and stick it right up these self important bunch of wankers and do it in style.

The office, in Nottingham, has been full of the ****** today.  Coming up crowing at me then getting all arsey and defensive when I ask if they are going tonight... Wankers...
