Well essentially he's the only left back we have left so no choice but to play him. Good luck to him.

Delph has been played as a full back, hasn't he?
Now before anyone says anything I now he isn't a defender and he'll get a yellow or red card!

Not very well though. Imagine him in defence with those attackers running at him? I'd rather have Hutton on the bench, which shows how thin we are defensively!

Good to see Westwood wasn't automatically dropped just because KEA's back from suspension. Lambo really does make them play for the shirt, great to see.

To be honest, it'll probably be the highlight of the day, that United line-up should go through us on a fair few occasions, but there's no harm in going for it.

Shocking decision by the worst referee in the premier league again in the arsenal game. NOT GOOD ENOUGH should be de-promoted to division 3 and loss his £100,000 salary!

Name:
Derrick Williams
Nationality:

17/01/1993
Height:
5' 11" (180cm)
Weight:

Derrick Williams made a significant contribution to Villa's success in the reserve league and NextGen Series last term.

The Republic of Ireland U19 international's form also propelled him to the fringes of the first team.

In fact, Williams was named on the bench for Barclays Premier League games against Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Operating either as a central defender or a left-back, he appeared 20 times for the title-winning second string side as well as playing in all but one of Villa's matches in the new European NextGen tournament.

He dives a lot I think.

Think Westwood and Bannan will be too lightweight tonight but at least we'll have a go with 3 strikers and Ireland on the pitch even if I expect Gaby and Weimann to play out wide and help the fullbacks.

I'd guess it'll be generally negative after his dive in the away game last year. First time we've played against him since then I think.

The little look up to the ref. Followed by the inability to do anything but lie prostrate on the ground for thrity seconds. The slow getting up to his feet before he does the little skip/hop thing he does. Two minutes of a slight hobble before he is right as rain again and ready to take another dive. The predicatbility of it all was very funny when he played for us now its just fucking annoying.

It shouldn't shock you in the least that some people wrote him off after 2 or 3 games. He's a young kid and he'll only get stronger and better.

The next 45 minutes will be an entirely different test and we need to keep our shape and discipline and most importantly take any chances that might come our way. We all know Man U have more gears and options off the bench. We need to stay very strong and keep going at them.

It shouldn't shock you in the least that some people wrote him off after 2 or 3 games. He's a young kid and he'll only get stronger and better.
To be fair, writing him off or proclaiming him to be this, that or the other after a handful of games is mental.  All you can say is that he had a very shaky start but has got a lot better recently.

And just think, there were a few people already writing Benteke off. The bloke looks a beast of a player. He could be a real world class player.

I honestly thought we've signed a young Drogba here.

Smalling flew into Benteke and bounced off. Fuck off Wilkins, Smalling just found out how big and strong the big man is.

Smalling tried to barge into Benteke and bounced off him. And Wilkins with his "there might have been a foul" bollocks. And there may well not have been one when gramps fell over but you're quiet on that one aren't you.

Bollocks, I was hoping to be relaxed this evening i'm well worked up now.

I can't believe anyone has questioned if that was a foul, if it had been any other player in our team smalling would've flattened them jumping in like that, can't punish Benteke for being built like a wall.

To be fair, it's still exciting to behold the young team going forward, as long as we take something out of this game, hopefully at least a point and the feeling that we have some decent players, better than against Norwich. I'm off out now anyway and think it's prob for the best!

You know though, we have shown this formation works.

Hernandez is a brilliant forward.

Indeed, we were deservedly 2 up against possibly the best side in the country. I hope they, and we, focus on that more than throwing it away.

And we should have been back in front again.

And he also has a certain swagger about him that kind of says "I deserve to be here", which I quite like about him. Ashley Westwood also seems possessed of this, which I think bodes well and marks them out as different to some of our own young players over the last year or two.

A team of bottlers. Every fucking time.
Yes

That's complete bollocks. They bought a superb player off the bench. We don't have those luxuries. That's the difference. Quality.

Aye again.

I wouldn't even blame it on the naivety of youth.  The first goal the ball got caught under his feet and he was lucky to get a shot off, the second was a lucky deflection.  the third is shite marking.

How the fuck are they so fit? They're running around like Duracell fucking bunnies in the 90th minute.

Bollocks are we a joke. Take Gabby and Ireland out of that side and there's barely 50 PL appearances. I'm fucking proud of how we played tonight. Really fucking proud.

Exactly, Collymore made exactly that point on Talkshite. We have a lot to be proud of tonight and this is a much longer end game for us. And we have hardly lost any ground on anyone today around us

I'm not sure I would have brought KEA on but he didn't have much choice.  They'd all been pressing so hard everyone was poonered.

Yeah I bet the same people blaming inexperience now said the same thing when we bottled it two years ago. To work so hard to earn a two goal lead and then let it slip like like that...relegation written all over it.

We're all upset mate but that's a bit strong.

Not really. It's as inherent in our club over the years as it has been for Man U to come back and win games. Different managers, different players but same old Villa. Bunch of bottles. Zero winning mentality. It's genetic.

Sorry but this side are still going forward. Last season we took it up the arse for 90 minutes against all the "top sides". This we are giving it a go. We will not go down I a sure of that. To call us losers on this display is ridiculous.

He has a point. Change the manager, the players...spend bugger all money or as much as you like. The result stays the same.

Wrong. We can't hold leads against many many teams. Not just Man U. It all started with Stoke at home under O'neill.

just got back, to gutted to comment on the game, just seeking a bit of solace from my fellow Villans. I get the feeling it's actually worse if you're not there as the goals go in ,at least you're watching in real time and not relying on some 3rd party supplying the bad news.I feel for you ! Still don't understand people leaving with 10 minutes to go though.
