I was discussing this with me dad on the way to the Albion, his best game this season was his only game for us, he should've never left, were worse off without him and I think if truth be told he's worse off without us (no bank balance jokes please)

Won't you come home James Milner,
Won't you come home.
I've moaned the whole night long
I'll do the cookin', honey, I'll pay the rent
I know I done you wrong

You remember that rainy evenin'
I threw you out....with nothin' but a fine tooth comb
Ya, I know I'm to blame, now... ain't it a shame
James Milner, won't you please come home

It's a very nice thought. We can but hope.
If we'd got Champions League football I could see it happening but we dont and he pretty much left in the hope of better things. Even if he leaves Man City he'll have a pick of other top clubs I think.

But, if you dont ask, you dont get.
He certainly knows he's loved here and that might amount to... something.

If Milner valued  being a footballer, playing regularly and playing for England he would return or go to club that will  do that for him. Next season after Shitty have signed Kaka, Iniesta, Messi and everyother superstars he will be sitting in the stand rather than the bench on match days. What a waste of English football talent at the age of 25...tut tut

If man city get that Champs League spot they are going to need players like Milner, whether it's for the league or Europe.

He's going nowhere. For the record he's also played in 37 games for them this season.

Milner may have played 37 times for Man City, but how many of those were off the bench?

I bet he'd prefer to play in central midfield too.

When I had you to myself
I didn't want you around
Those pretty faces always made you
Stand out in a crowd
But someone picked you from the bench
One cheque was all it took
Now it's much too late for me
To take a second look

CHORUS:
Oh Jimmy give me one more chance
(show you that I love you)
Won't you please let me
(back in your heart)
Oh darlin' I was blind to let you go
(let you go baby)
But now since I see you in his arms
(I want you back)
Yes I do now
(I want you back)
Ooh ooh baby
(I want you back)
Ya ya ya ya
(I want you back)
Na na na na

So long, Jimmy, so long.
Though you only stayed a moment,
We all know that you're the one. Singing,
So long, Jimmy, so long.
Sure we're glad for the experience,
We miss you now you've gone.
We're just swimming in your soul 'cause,
We all wish we wrote this song.
Life goes on.

I get the same old dreams, same time every night
Fall to the ground and I wake up
So I get out of bed, put on my shoes, and in my head
Thoughts fly back to the break-up

These four walls are closing in
Look at the fix you've put me in

Since you been gone, since you been gone
I'm outta my head, can't take it
Could I be wrong, but since you been gone
You cast the spell, so break it
Oooohhh - Whhooooaaa - Ooooohhh
Since you been gone

Oh Jimmy doo-be-do
I'm in love with you, Jimmy doo-be-do
I'm in love with you, Jimmy doo-be-do
I'm in love with you
Jimmy Jimmy, oh with your eyes so blue
Jimmy Jimmy, I've got a crush on you
Jimmy Jimmy, I'm so in love with you

Oh when we walk it always feels so nice
And when we talk it seems like paradise
Jimmy Jimmy I'm so in love with you

You're my king and I'm in heaven every time I look at you
When you smile it's like a dream
And I'm so lucky 'cause I found a boy like you

Oh Jimmy doo-be-do
I'm in love with you, Jimmy doo-be-do
I'm in love with you, Jimmy doo-be-do
I'm in love with you

Is what I won't be singing. No sale, sorry. I'd prefer we spent our money on a dominant defensive midfielder, a good attacking player (prob a striker or a winger rather than a Milner) and some defenders. Also, we can bring in youngsters like Bannan, Delph and Gardner into the team and Milner would be another name in front of them.

Blame Chris Jameson for this.

Since you've been gone
I shut my eyes and I fantasize that you're here with me
Will you ever return?
I won't be satisfied till you're by Delph's side
Don't wait any longer
(Come back)

Why don't you come back, please hurry
Why don't you come back, please hurry
Come back and stay for good this time
Come back and stay for good this time

When you said goodbye
I was trying to hide what I felt inside
Until it passed me by
You said you'd return
You said that you'd be mine till the end of time
Well don't wait any longer

Why don't you come back, please hurry
Why don't you come back, please hurry
Come back and stay for good this time
Come back and stay for good this time

Oh since you've been gone
Opened my eyes and I realized what we had together
Will you ever return
Or have you changed my mind
If you wanna stay mine just love me forever
Love me forever

Why don't you come back, please hurry
Why don't you come back, please hurry
Come back and stay for good this time
Come back and stay for good this time

We work all week, we dancin, play the movies
We rock flatops, our girls rocked doobies
Made a killin, even though the D's knew me
Eventually, you know they try to do me
Fock it
Fed up, my nigga want to take it up north
Sick of cops comin, sick of throwin jacks in his mouth
Gave him half my paper, told 'em go that route
Few months, he got his brain blown out
Now I'm stressed
His baby's mother, she trippin, blamin me
And his older brothers, understand, the game it be
Kinda topsy turvy
You win some, you lose some
Damn, they lost a brother
They mother lost a son
Fuck, why my nigga couldn't stay in B6?
I'm a thug, but I swear for three days I cried
I look in the sky and ask God why
Can't look his baby girls in the eye
D*mn I miss you

Ooh, I'm missin you
Tell me why the road turns, why it turns
Ooh, I'm missin you
Nah nah nah nah nah, oh tell me why why why why

Come back to what you know,
Take everything real slow
I wanna lose you but I can't Let you go.

Before you interfere
Let me make it loud and clear, that you got no more to prove.
I'm a fool.
So take it easy on yourself,
There's nothing new about regretting how you felt.
I'll never let you down,
Or ever feel the way that I've been fearing now.

Coming back to what you know won't mean a thing.
Everything that you've done keeps you from me.
Now I know that I need more time,
Come back and let me see you're right.
I'm coming back to what you know,
Cos I know that I need it now it's gone.
Now I know that I need more time,
Come back and let me see you're eye

So hang on to what you've got, keep it safe.
Hang on to what you've got,
Keep it safe from harm. You'll find.
There's nothing new that we can't leave behind.

Come back to what you know,
Take everything, real slow,
I wanna lose you but I got,
Far too high To let go
Now the demon in me knows,
What I knew so long ago

Coming back to what you know won't mean a thing.
Everything that you've done keeps you from me.
Now I know that I need more time,
Come back and let me see you're right.
I'm coming back to what you know,
Cos I know that I need it now it's gone.
Now I know that I need more time,
Come back and let me see you're right.

So hang on to what you've got, keep it safe.
Hang on to what you've got, keep it safe from harm.
We got time. We got time.

Come back to what you know,
Take everything real slow,
I tried to lose you,
But I got far too close.

West Brom got it's wankers
The Blues got it's bums
Man City got Big James Milner
He's a midfield son of a gun
Yeah, he fast and strong as a man can come
While we're stuck with Heskey the useless Ox
And when Capello's boys get together at night
You know they all call big James "Boss", just because
And they say

You don't tug on Superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off that old Lone Ranger
And you don't mess around with James

Well outta Milan came a feminine guy
He say I'm lookin' for a man named James
I am minted boy
And I won't be coy
18 million get's me Jim
Yeah I'm lookin' for the king of Villa Park
He Carrying Petrov around
You can have all the money
And it may sound funny
But I'll be fucked if I take Ireland back
Everybody say Roberto don't you know

That you don't tug on Superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off that old Lone Ranger
And you don't mess around with Jim

Well a hush fell over against West Ham
When Jimmy come off the pitch
And when the game was done
The only part that wasn't muddy
Was the soles of the big man's feet
Yeah he was sweating in 'bout a hundred places
And he was shot in a couple more
And you better believe
The Holte told a different kind of story
When James was man of the match, now they say

You don't tug on Superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off that old Lone Ranger
And you don't mess around with James

You see, this I'm not sure about.

I like him, think he's a very good player but probably not an elite player. At least, not yet.

It's not just claret tinted specs when I say we (or a side roughly occupying the ground we used to) are about his level. Is he better off being a big player for us -featuring regularly and effectively being the heartbeat of the side- or a bit part player at Abu Dhabi FC or one of the regular top 4, shunted out to the wing and -often- not even starting at all?

I wonder if he had his time again what he'd do. Though I'm sure the weekly wage  cushions the blow somewhat.

I'm sure Gareth Barry would find it curious that we talk about a player who had less than three seasons with us over two spells (and only one really outstanding one) coming home, whereas we reserve dogs abuse for a player who was with us over 10 years.

FWIW, I wouldn't mind having either back. Though obviously Jimmy has more gas in the tank.

He wasn't that bad on his return was he? I remember he came back in late 2000, just after we'd had the ''£'' protest signs and just before John Paul Angel's arrival.
Actually, just looking at Wiki, he played 73 matches for us in his second spell and left in the summer of '03 (when his Rep of Ireland mucker Dolly O'Dreary had just taken over). I'm a bit surprised he was here that long and played that much second-time round as I don't recall much of his performances.

He certainly knows he's loved here and that might amount to... something.

No, Cannibal Corpse.

If I had to use a cannibal corpse song to describe Milner leaving I'd use gutted

Never go back
Only one Villa player has done that and it worked

Would that be Gordon Cowans?
Steve Staunton came back and that definitely didn't work

He wasn't that bad on his return was he? I remember he came back in late 2000, just after we'd had the ''£'' protest signs and just before John Paul Angel's arrival.
Actually, just looking at Wiki, he played 73 matches for us in his second spell and left in the summer of '03 (when his Rep of Ireland mucker Dolly O'Dreary had just taken over). I'm a bit surprised he was here that long and played that much second-time round as I don't recall much of his performances.
Agree Eamonn he wasn't a disaster by any means but for me nowhere near the player he was first time round.  Well worth the transfer fee though ;)

If James Milner came back he could move straight back into his old house, its been empty ever since three large removal vans arrived a couple of days after his move to Man City was finalised.Theres still a set of half size goalposts in the garden too.
He lived about 20 doors down the road from me. But before you all think I'm on millionaires row, that was 19 doors of 3 bed semis then 1/2 mile out into the country to his rather larger pad.

bit like my old house. I used to live 2 doors down from the Duke of Westminster, well I was the last house on a small development, then there was on cottage on his land then 4 miles of estate wall, then his place

The Milner deal with the totally forgettable Ireland supposedly coming the other way
has been a total disaster for both clubs and possibly both players, although I dare say
they are probably a few £££££ better off-

The possibility of James was mentioned couple of weeks back on away trip to Everton
and it was suggested we could get him on loan ?

Highly likely Citeh will be splashing out and Jimmy will be surplus to requirements ......
I wish he had stayed but that's history now -

No chance he'll be back. Shame,  because he'd be ideal for us. I think we suit him and vice versa. It's not gone well at City, but he'll have plenty of takers. I think Utd would love to have him. Depends if they'd want to deal with City. Liverpool may also bid for him. He may find that City keep him and use him. It might depend on a new manager. If Jose joined City, I think Milner is a player he'd like a lot, and probably in CM where Jimmy could shine.
I think he'd do well at Arsenal, but only if Arsene spent some money.

From what i've read about him, he's not your typical football wanker.
Trains hard, willing to learn, doesn't drink alcohol and not in the slightest bit interested in late night clubbing.

I'd put money on us having a chance if he knew he could play every game in central midfield.

On the odd occasion he plays for Man City now, it's always on the wing and I don't think Mancini is that bothered about him.

Because he might not play in the Champions League next year. If he's not in their 25, he wont play.
Not that he wouldn't have better offers than here.

He hasnt been a fixture for them this year and they will no doubt go and buy even better players so it's the law of the footballing jungle. He'll play even less next season or not at all. Ridiculous, I know. But quite possible.

Of City's 36 Prem Lge games this season he's started 22 and come on in 8, so that's 30 out of 35 apps... he's hardly been left out in the cold has he?

''Established international''? The odd sub appearance and he rarely starts for England (or Citeh).
The only England game he hasn't played in since he left us was Montenegro when he was suspended. Of the other 7 he's started 5 and come on in 2.

Any player with ambition wants to play Champions League - I can't see Milner giving up that chance without a fight.
I can't for the life of me think why people on here think he'll come back here to earn less money and possibly be in a relegation scrap.

No way they're selling Milner, he's exactly the player you need for a successful campaign in both the league and Europe - versatile, incredible fitness levels, relatively uncomplaining about rotation and with a fair amount of quality to boot. They will need Milner a lot next season.

We know that, but I am not sure that Man City (the club/fans and crucially Mancini) realise what sort of player they have.  They've - until very recently - played Milner as a winger which is not his best position (as we all know).

Seems to me that he is/will be an expensive utility player for them - useful to have as he's English, hard working and versatile, but they won't build a side around him, which we would have. However, the wages and Champions League will surely matter more for him, at least for next season.

No no Jimmy is not the sort of player Alex needs. He is concentrating on Liam Ridgewell/Steve Davis etc.
Don't be influenced by the fact that Owen Hargreaves has signed for City and he can do everything Jimmy can do ... only better! (that is if he can stand up in the first place)
