Alejandro Garnacho - discussion thread
« on: Today at 03:56:25 PM »
Given that the Athletic, Tanswell, Ornstein, now Townley are talking about this now may as well discuss it here.

Aston Villa discussing deal to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea. Talks for 22yo winger loan + conditional buy obligation. Unai Emery driving #AVFC move - wanted Argentine before #CFC & now. Unrelated to Rogers transfer. W/ @J_Tanswell @TheAthleticFC

Doesn't seem close enough to warrant a thread yet to me. Other clubs interested and no suggestion of player agreement.

The Athletic;

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7438873/2026/07/21/aston-villa-alejandro-garnacho-transfer/

"...initial season-long loan with a conditional obligation to buy, but the details remain moveable..."

"Unai Emery is a big admirer of Garnacho, 22, having shown interest in the winger last summer before he joined Chelsea..."

"He admitted in April that he done a bad murder did “some bad things” towards the end of his stay with United, and that the manner of his exit was painful..."

It’s a discussion thread because it’s being discussed now at an advanced stage. That’s all.

I’m fully onboard with TV triggering a thread for this one.

Garnacho is undeniably talented - but seems to be poison.

If Emi Martinez is staying, maybe he and the other Emi can take him under their wings and keep him under control.

It’s a discussion thread because it’s being reporter now at an advanced stage by reputable football journalists. No different to Manzambi or Gomes. That’s all.

Be careful what you ask for given 95% of what I’ve started actually happen

I know, but personal opinion is that the forum gets too cluttered if we have lots of these threads set up and I prefer to keep discussion to the actual transfer discussion thread unless a signing is imminent or, better still, confirmed.

“Conditional buy obligation” shudder. Also I can’t escape the view that for all his talent that’s two clubs now who are happy to see him out the door. Now it is Manure and Chelsea, so perhaps it’s on them. But I really don’t want us to be saddled with someone who’s contributing nothing, who also has a bad attitude.

I’m not against the idea. Unai got Sancho playing fairly well, I’m sure he could get more out of the advertising board sitter.

Fucking hell, Emery has proved so far to be a genius, but Garnacho......!!!!

We knew Sancho was going to be a waste of time, and he largely was. Match that and add potential dressing room upset with this one.

I'd sooner us by obligated to pay over £40m for nachos.
