Can someone summarise the issue here?
Advertising is a suggestion isn't it? So one is able to choose whether to buy a coke bet with Betano, holiday in Rwanda.
What's the problem?

Sponsorship is promoting a brand. They wouldn't give us money, otherwise. So by signing a sponsorship deal with them we are promoting a repugnant, murderous state.

The issue is that we are helping to cleanse the reputation of a regime which doesn't recognise human rights, politically oppresses its people, and funds genocide in neighbouring countries.

The money they earn from tourism helps keep the regime in power and can be used to fund these activities.

Yep exactly that and anything that “normalises” this is where the problem lies. Aston Villa are signing up and being paid to sports wash.

Good summary. Signed.

Just saw the post for this on Facebook. Unsurprising, but depressing number of comments from narrow minded dimwits.
Depressing indeed.  The usual cries of "keep politics out of sport!" and "you're just a woke, leftie twat".  Tedious.

In fact, I'd rather whoever shared this to that sewer removed it ASAP. As I've already stated, for my own safety, I'd rather not bring myself to the attention of fascist loons.

Seriously....take it down please. I'm getting on a bit. And, unlike the hate-peddlers, I can't afford a big fat bodyguard!

Yep, I’ve tried on there to say ‘do your research’ but most of them just want to insult the poster or say money is money

Yeah I was on the verge of wading in, but stopped due to the futility of it and in a lot of cases these halfwits (overly generous) want attention.

It's interesting to see that the facebook membership is full of the sort of people who'd last about a week on the forum.

I think it was Satyin who shared it in the H&V group on FB, so he'd have to do the honours (or an admin of the group).

Unless you only wanted a couple of dozen from here signing it then it was always going to be the aim that it spreads far and wide.

The Facebook group for H&V gets a bit weird. I only look at it occasionally.
(eg all that arguing about the 'I' in villains)

Using the comments by some people in response to Purps post as an excuse to bin a few people off there would be a good idea.

That much is, undoubtedly true, Mr WithesShin. I can't remember, but I might've recommended bluesky for that very reason. Oh well: If I'm stuck a pigger in the street, by some flag-waving, pea-brained knuckle-dragger, speak kindly of me.

Can you contact the site and ask if its possible to change the name?
