What, cos of the Rwanda sponsor and what they've done in DR Congo where his Dad is from?

That's one possibility, but then my eyes are drawn to the start of the thread.

I don't believe twitter bollocks, no one else is reporting this and I am sure it would have been brought up during the contract negotiations.

I think someone is putting two and two together and getting 7

I would be shocked if the sponsorship will cause any issues.  We all think its shit mind.

I mean - if he walks away because thats what he believes then fair play to him.  But its a leap considering sports washing is basically part of funding football, that and betting.

Personally I would like to see Booze and Fags make a comeback

If it's on X, it's probably bullshit.

If the sponsorship is the issue, then massive props to the lad for taking a principled stand. Not a great outcome for us, if he's as good as you lot persuaded me to believe, but I have a lot of respect for a young footballer making a decision like that. Doesn't happen much anymore.

If he told us to fuck off because of the sponsor he'd go right up in my estimation.

A bit controversial to get involved with politics on shirt sponsorship. I hope there's nothing in this, we need a bit of good news after the events of the last week.

Manzambi Senior no doubt has strongly held opinions on the Rwandan regime and these will influence his son's views.  But everyone's moral compass has some variance from true north.  Object to a prospective club's shirt sponsor?  Yes.  Choose to settle in a country and for your to son represent it at international level.  A county whose wealth owes something to being the banking repository for the ill-gotten gains of every despotic, genocidal or corrupt government of the last century or more? Err...

Hopefully nonsense but if this deal was to fall through over this sponsorship then the people who delivered this sponsorship need to be sacked.

That's a reach and then some. From some horrendous gambling company to visit rwanda on our shirt, what's next?

Is gambling horrendous? I don't gamble, so dont know- hence the sincerity of the question.

I throw this in for debate, but is there really that much difference between gambling adverts and the pressure brought to bear on supporters to hand over their money to their club?

On this website there are people speculating that Emi Martinez may need to leave England if he is somehow the focus in tonight's game and ends up responsible for England getting knocked out of a football tournament while at the same time people are dismissing how strongly the Manzambi family might feel about our new Rwandan sponsor given that regime's role in their native DR Congo!

There is a study in there somewhere!
