Almost every word comes with its own baggage. I’ve just agonised over a reply to a school mate’s wedding invitation over whether to say “Val and I” (correct, but aloof sounding in the context of talking to a mate) and “Me and Val” (grammatically incorrect, but more friendly and natural in the context).
In an international online forum, you cannot possibly know what baggage everyone carries associated with particular words and phrases, so censorship to protect people from making offensive posts inadvertently is totally appropriate (especially when it’s simple to fill in the blanks).
(I wrote “Me and Val” by the way, but now I’m worried he will read my thoughts and think I’m being patronising.)
