Ironically, it's probably advisable to write 'c**t' rather than '******', as in the case of the latter, people may fill in the blanks incorrectly and end up with a word that is really offensive.

I think this is what happened above with Monty and Eddie, btw.

The fact that the 'c' word is censored with six rather than four asterisks is triggering my OCD tendencies.

Almost every word comes with its own baggage. I’ve just agonised over a reply to a school mate’s wedding invitation over whether to say “Val and I” (correct, but aloof sounding in the context of talking to a mate) and “Me and Val” (grammatically incorrect, but more friendly and natural in the context).

In an international online forum, you cannot possibly know what baggage everyone carries associated with particular words and phrases, so censorship to protect people from making offensive posts inadvertently is totally appropriate (especially when it’s simple to fill in the blanks).

(I wrote “Me and Val” by the way, but now I’m worried he will read my thoughts and think I’m being patronising.)

I think the controversial bits have been hidden/deleted.

Only the N word has been edited out by a mod, everything else is as it was posted.

I think it's a bit odd that only that word is automatically censored. But what do I know? I'm just a cunt.

People are so rebellious by getting around the word censor. It's like punk never died.

Other controversial words seem to be banned from time to time. I seem to remember some confusing posts about Keir Richards of the Rolling Stones a while back.
