Not many countries can host it now though as it's so much bigger than 40 years ago. Sportswashing nations don't care as they'll see it as worth spending a fortune on white elephant stadiums, but after that the number that can solely host a WC is now very small. Even Italy couldn't these days without spending an absolute fortune.

Wembley, Villa, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Sunderland is 6 for starters, 7 if they used a second London stadium. And a couple of other clubs would probably expand.

Four of them would be in London with three all being in the North/East of London which would cause some issues.
