It’s always the manager.
We need a new one that will develop and coach a side devoted to pace without Kane.

One that never, ever loses a match or makes any tactical decisions that any fans ever disagree with.

Again. Let me make it clear. I don’t disagree with the fact that his tactical decisions could have been better. I’m offering that the players are equally as culpable. They failed. The manager could have helped but I’m guessing he didn’t tell them to drop deeper and deeper. So I’m not disagreeing with the manager getting criticism. But when you have very experienced international footballers playing for England, they are not getting proportional blame. And the fact that year after year English footballers fail on the biggest stage suggests the problem is deeper than this game.

Happened upon the C5 review the night after the game, and that was very much the view of Graeme Souness. OTOH, John Terry put it wholly on the manager.

Nobody is getting sacked for reaching a semi final in his first tournament. Talk about levels of delusional entitlement.

This is the bit I just don’t get. England as “football nation”, all this it’s coming home bollocks have won 1 trophy of any note in its entire history. Coming home to what exactly?

Come on TV, you can't be willfully misunderstanding that song like all the yanks have? You really think we arrogantly think 'it's coming home' after winning fuck all for 60 years?

Let's hope the other bloke doesn't get injured.

I'm OK with debatable decisions, just not ones that are derided by literally every other human being on the planet, including as yet undiscovered tribes in the deepest forests of Papua New Guinea.

Mate understand I grew up in the UK so was around when that song was born. It’s not the song itself. It’s the general entitlement of England, fans, media that every tournament this is the one. The song just adds to that from the intent of 96. English players for me are general very good but not world class except for the few. And I mean Kane and Bellingham from the current lot. How many of our players are getting into that France or Spain side. Not many I’d guess.
